thanks to many fine posters i think we can make an intelligent choice.
cast your vote and debate if you like.
I think we can cast our vote that he's a myth no different than any other of the mythological gods,,, but because of a shear quirck of circumstance,, namely jesus,, Whom I think he may have elevated this myth enough to outlast many of the disguarded ones presently.
But it's time to dump this one, too,, yes there is too,, much information about the lies of the Bible, sorry we have to asign him there, if we are honest with ourselves.
well will it??
?
JT,
I see the need to question everything.
I see the jehovah myth as a metaphorical tool man's consciousness was using to try and explain the unexplainable it served a tempary purpose to man's growing awareness. This "awareness" will grow as part of evolution, atleast the arrow of evolution to my awareness seems to be pointed in that direction. I see more inward growth as I leave these old myths. Many more myths than I can shake a stick at, but maybe some day it will sneak up from behind, and all the myths will be gone. Maybe that's the next level.
The more we question the more we, can learn or should I say unlearn.
Well this jehovah myth was a big hurtle for me, I'm glad I had Thor kick the snot out of him.
OBTW, I don't see the ego as needing destruction, it just needs to be put in it's place perhaps, and use it as a tool as well. Or maybe I'm just trying to calm down my ego LOL??

I would like to share this about ST John of the Cross. I think the man is still under the power of the church in his mind, or maybe he was just play along with the church.
Any way here is the link for some verse and coments: http://www.tearsofllorona.com/john.html
STANZAS OF THE SOUL
http://www.tearsofllorona.com/john.html
This book, an "exposition of the stanzas describing the method followed by the soul in its journey upon the spiritual road to the attainment of the perfect union of love with God, to the extent that is possible in this life," comes down to us from the Spanish mystic, priest, and spiritual instructor known as St. John of the Cross (6/24/1542-12/14/1591), born Juan de Yepes at Fontiveros, near Ávila. After his death he was beatified by Clement X, canonized by Benedict XIII, and declared Doctor of the Church Universal by Pius XI. The The Dark Night of the Soul was intended to develop the spiritual themes in each of the stanzas appearing at the end of this document, but the work was never finished (the third was as far as he got). My comments appear in italics. Many can never have enough of listening to counsels and learning spiritual precepts, and of possessing and reading many books which treat of this matter, and they spend their time on all these things rather than on works of mortification and the perfecting of the inward poverty of spirit which should be theirs. "Mortification" meaning the hunting down and killing of egotistical desires for inward exaltation or spiritual advancement. All the great mystics agree that the sense of closeness to God hinges on the planing away of anything--most of all the "I" or "me"--that blocks the divine light. St. John later makes the point that God often withholds joy or a feeling of illumination precisely so that striving will cease and grace operate invisibly. This night, which, as we say, is contemplation, produces in spiritual persons two kinds of darkness or purgation, corresponding to the two parts of man's nature--namely, the sensual and the spiritual. And thus the one night or purgation will be sensual, wherein the soul is purged according to sense, which is subdued to the spirit; and the other is a night or purgation which is spiritual, wherein the soul is purged and stripped according to the spirit, and subdued and made ready for the union of love with God. Many contemplatives and fans of meditation will recognize the first kind of "night" by its barrenness, confusion, emptiness, and lack of joy or imagery. That, however, is the lesser night; those who work through it and make peace with it encounter a spiritual night far more terrible. The first weans one from dependence on pleasant experiences, inner or outer, the second from the very sense of self. The first is the desert, the second Gethsemane. Both are signs, not of sin, but of advancement. In this sense we may understand that which the Spouse said to the Bride in the |

i mean they are both imaginary, so do you think this wank-hovah god, who is so jealous, so pouting, so insecure that he needs our worship to be made whole.
could this loser in ever win a fight with thor???
he's pathetic,,i really mean it,,, what a loser!!
Lee,
I don't totally agree with your opinion, I do note a very kind person, and so I see where you are coming from and that is one of benevilent concern.
But,,,,,,,,,
I think it much better not to try to give false impressions, about what XJW are all about, I think it much better within reason,,, to let them see the whole taco.
Because once they leave the WT they can fall into other lying cults, and false hopes they are used to pray on people. If they find this thread offensive they simply can choose not to read it. There are many other thread that they can choice from that may be more in line with their currant interest.
On the topic of the Jeho myth: I think everthing I said about the myth jehovah is true, he's a myth just like Thor, Zeus and the rest of them. In all honesty jehovah is pretty mean, he kills people for petty reasons like when Uzzah tried to stead the Ark and he killed him. That's apretty bad temper if you ask me. He had the Isrealites slaughter whole cities and kill even the babies, that's brutal. If you read about Zeus where he did similar things many of us have no problem saying he's mean, but you can admit the meaness of jehovah. Why because we have been taught to fear his ugly ass.
well will it??
?
I can honestly say I feel no anger, it is more like a tremendeous burden has been lifted from my heart and I want to kiss everything in sight.(Metaphorically speaking).
To no longer beleive in the Cruel jehovah is so refressing, the truth really will set you free!!!! no not totally,
Now I know that many of our concepts enslave us,
The Jehovah myth is just one of the many concepts that enslave us.
Even so,,, it is nice to be set free,, while perhaps not completely from the myth,,, but free enough to feel great gladness.
What will come with other freedoms???
i mean they are both imaginary, so do you think this wank-hovah god, who is so jealous, so pouting, so insecure that he needs our worship to be made whole.

Min,
What the problem with this question is: he was REAL for a long time of my life! So i don't know if Jehovah could be a myth or not.
I agree it took me about 3 years being out of the borg to finally come to that conclusion that he is just a tired old myth soon to be forgoten by men, for alas the "seen if the world is changing".
