R and me, part 2
by Pistoff inso i am at the funeral for the son of an old mentor of mine and my closet truth friends.. .
(i talked about r in a previous post, he was the most formative person in my life in the truth, and those of my family and friends.).
i was pulled aside by r's wife; she tells me that r wants to talk to me.. .

I'm assuming that when you cruelly state someone went mad you mean either they have mental health issues or a breakdown.
VERY unlikely that all these people went 'mad'

memories
by Mikado inreading others typically crazy jw experiences has made me remember one particularly distressing experience.... i did a careful fade long before i had even heard of the term and i didn't know of anyone else who did it.. i was an unwanted stepchild, and in all honesty a very difficult one i suspect, i had two much younger siblings, and was always excluded and the black sheep, as ina serious uber jw there is no room for any sort of noncomity, and i was never destined to stay a jw, or have anytime for religion i suspect.. i went to my grandmothers funeral, and the elder giving her talk, a very nice man, after all the preaching mentioned her two grandchildren of one gender...she had three and i am of the other gender.. it was a lightning bolt moment, i got up and walked out.... .
now with the benefit of hindsight it was no more than what i should have expected.... funny how things bring long forgotten memories up....

thanks guys, but you know I am so NOt sorry for myself, it's made me who I am today..
so much so I went and got a tattoo that says
im the hero of this story, I don't need to be saved
and you know, it's true.
i wouldn't have been able to be any of the good and not so good things I am now if I had stayed in that nuttery.
i hope that goes for all of you...

The hardship of being a gay Jehovahs witness.
by truthwillsetyoufree inplease spare a moment to consider the difiiculties faced by gay jehovahs witnesses.
i was raised and baptised as a very serious jw.
every waking moment of my day was lived for jehovahs and his organization and for nothing else.

The problems Bible believers have with Atheists is the burden of proof is on the Believer and we just do not have enough proof.
by booker-t ini recently posted a post telling this board my athesit coworker stumped me with questions about the validity of the ark story and i just cannot stop talking to her.
i love hearing her side and point of view which in the past i would have dismissed as "satanic" thinking.
she has some very good questions and i am having a hard time answering them.

it's been so long since I read someone attempting to defend the flood fairy story....
its rather sad, to have so much intelligence and to accept things that are patently untrue. once again an example of how faith and intelligence are often unrelated...

the older I get the more I find I have no tolerance for patriosm and patriotic people. I think it's almost a national trait, but just accentuated by my life experience.
it almost feels like people having a sense of, my country is so much more superior, but I have been lucky enough to travel a lot, those who come from countries were they feel very patriotic are generally the places where people havent travelled and realised now wonderful the world is, and just how varied...
just a side note, many other countries have freedom, and that of speech and safety, without all the nonsense that goes without it, and fortunatly without carrying lethal weapons

you know I am the product of dirt poor ancestors, not even working class...
I have done things my ancestors couldn't dream of, I own and built my own home.
i have travelled around the world, I have been able to safely control my fertility.
i hve just this week been saved by 21st century antibiotics from an infection that I think would have killed me....
to a certain extent I think we are the master of our own destiny.
i am lucky to be alive here and now...

"It's not religious..." Wait... What???
by dynamiterose77 inmy friend, mike works as a massage therapist, and there is a woman at the shop that is super-jw-woman and is constantly hounding him with things.. today, he's messaging me and he tells me that she was trying to push a brochure or something on him.
he said he'd really rather not read a religious pamphlet.. so... she says, "it's not religious... it's from god.".
isn't that kinda what religious means?

he should have told her he was an apostate... that would have got rid of her.
