What about graduation parties? I've seen some elaborate graduation parties.
JWs have a lot to compensate for. They love a good party as much as the next person.
I would have a blast at those parties.
My sister throws the best parties.
For her daughter's graduation party, she had a neon glow in the dark party.
For her in-laws 50 th anniversary she threw a '50's themed party and wore a poodle skirt and saddle shoes. Everyone dressed in the '50's style, then we watched a slide show featuring the happy couple .

Dammit Jim, I'm a psychopath not an all loving God!
by Coded Logic inwhen did you discover that the god of bible - and the loving god that you had worshiped your entire life - were not the same?
how did it affect you?.

I always wondered if there was a supreme being, why he would be interested in such insignificant beings compared to him.
I figured it would be like how I feel looking at a bunch of ants in an ant farm or ant hill.
I tried to think of god as a loving father, but I could not quite get there.
Ps Loved the star trek reference!

why didnt God just do this?
by sowhatnow infor one thing, i cant get past genesis, but no matter.. when god told adam and eve if you eat from the tree youll die.
so why did he not simple let them die and not allow the offspring to?.
you see, if i was a god, and i told two people that, id let them die , .

I can not believe I ever took these stories literally.
But when you are told something all your life, it becomes part of your beliefs until something shakes it up.
It is important to keep asking those questions and search for answers.
I appreciate when someone exposes the illogical parts of the stories instead of just replying that it is made up and implying how dumb it is to believe it.
It takes awhile to get past the blind faith and start looking at things objectively and logically.

Why do "Apostates/exjws" always go into "Watchtower-bashing" when you show them inconsistencies in the Bible?
by booker-t ini have noticed with "apostates/exjws" they always resort to "watchtower-bashing" whenever you show them inconsistencies of the bible.
we could be talking about contradictions, such as where did cain get his wife if adam, eve, abel, and cain were the only ones on earth?
the usual answer when they cannot answer will be "well the wt gave false prophecies in 1975".

Booker: perhaps it would help if you gave an example?
I am unclear as to the response you are looking for.
you do seem like you are frustrated.

Gary thanks for sharing your story. It is nice to get to know more about you. I have always appreciated your comments and threads.
I can relate to your situation because my husband was an UBM. I recognize myself sometimes in your wife's actions.
My husband let me work it out for myself. I eventually got there but it took awhile.

Booker: I am puzzled by your question.
When you say most exJW's or apostates do you mean most Christian exJW's or apostates?
Because I know many here would have replyed " the stuff is made up or a fantasy story".
Then they might blast the watchtower or religion in general for insisting on taking the bible literally.
So I think you should clarify your OP.

which is a better attitude: I can't respect it, but I understand it or I cant understand it , but I will respect it?
by MissFit inso is it possible to understand a reason and not respect it?
shouldn't understanding lead to a respect of the reasons and actions?.
or can you respect the reasons and actions without understanding them?.
