Saturday morning field service is a joke

i havent been going door to door saturday mornings for since i can't remember when.

i have been putting in regular reports to the congregation but the last time i actually went on a door was probably six months ago or so and it has been at least 2 years since i did a saturday morning.

9:30 we showed up to the group arrangement, we waited outside because we were not sure that it was the right place.

Hoser , that's how my Saturdays used to be like. Were you in my car group? Lol.

I tried going out "in service" when I was reactivating myself a couple of years ago. I never came home "refreshed". The highlight of the morning is the coffee break and the creative time counting.

In one group a couple of us would bring some mags. Or tracts with us and try to place them in the parking lot to keep the time going. If you were pioneering, you would stop at a gas station or bus stop to start your time before the fs meeting and then hit a laundry mat right after and then go on a long distance call or not at home.

I could go the whole morning without speaking or knocking at a door.

I did get caught up on all the gossip though.

I thought maybe I wasn't doing it right. I never got any RVs.

Bump, interesting experience. Eye opener for lurkers. Maybe they will be lucky enough to have an ex-JW or faded as a neighbor in their time of need.

It seems inactive JWs are only worth contacting if you can count your time when you visit. Notice the only JW visits Bill gets is from JWs with magazines to drop off.

They can count their time, placement and a RV. If they actually talk to him they might even count it as a bible study.

Translating JWFacts to Spanish... Update?

as you all may know, it is an ongoing project to translate jwfacts to spanish.

given that there are more than 2 spanish-speaking jw's for every one that speaks english, it can be safely said that spanish is the #1 language in the jw world (even though everything is made originally in english).. the spanish-speaking jw's are harder to convince.

i attribute it almost 100% to socioeconomic factors.

...as we were enjoying our weekly sunday "no meetings margaritas.. my friend and i have been meeting for lunch and margaritas ( okay mostly margaritas, we throw lunch in so we dont feel like alcoholics lol ??).

instead of going to meetings.. ( we discovered we could have lunch*margaritas* without the meeting first.).

my jw lady friend still goes out "in service" and stays in touch with her "service buddies" who also know me.. so she was telling me that they asked about me and mentioned that they would like to stop by to see me.

What is so sad is that a grown woman feels she has to sneak around to do a very normal activity.

I dont care myself if people know I would rather go to lunch instead of a meeting.

She keeps saying it isn't anyone's business but deep down she knows she will be judged.

I think she is fading but doesnt know it. She is just starting to feel the tug of the invisible chains.

JAM, They are so lucky to have you as a friend. Did you tell ever tell Bill that you are ex-Elder? He might be having doubts but feeling like it is just him being weak.

Turning My House in to A Ex-JW Gathering Church, Will it bug my JW Neighbors?

i am thinking of turning my house in to a ex-jw meeting place, getting bar, pool tables, ping-pong, foseball, pinball and kegs of beer on tap.

big screen singles pad for the local ex-jws to visit and hang out.

will this bug all the jws who live near by me, do they get weird around known apostates?.

BSB: im so sorry you are getting harassed. But do you think antagonizing them will help matters?

How about a no trespassing sign? Could you report them for harrassment?

what is the atmosphere in many of this worlds institutions of higher education?

So she was telling me that they asked about me and mentioned that they would like to stop by to see me. This is a JW couple not elders.

Bless her sweet heart. She looked at me and took my hand and said" now Missy, I told them you probably were working because you have to work Saturdays sometimes (which is true).

I wasn't sure if you really wanted them to stop by & dont worry I didnt say anything about us having lunch together instead of going to the meeting."

She looks at me sternly. " and if you do talk to them, dont tell them either, watch what you say because they like to talk.

Besides its nobody's business."

😇I solemnly promised I would not reveal to anyone that we sip margaritas and have fun instead of attending the Sunday meeting.

😎(After all any sane person would understand a margarita at a track is much less stressful to the heart than a meeting with a bunch of busy bodies and gossips.)

I wonder if I should start wearing sunglasses and a trench coat? Lol.

BSB: it's none of their business who you associate with. They lost that power when you left.

Now if you want to have fun, just give them the same consideration you would to any of your neighbors.

Enjoy yourself and dont worry about what they will think. You are past that now.😨 Right??😉

The CO's are liars

today i visited another hall because my wife wanted to see some friend in this hall.. all was fine.

it was a 1pm meetting which was nice.... but.. it was co visit... ggrr.. that means boths talks i need to hear again in 2 weeks... the first one was unimpressive.... the second was sick!.

he said that we needed to imagine the new world... he said he wanted 11 children in the new world.... wait a minute...1 billion years + and only 11 children.. excuse me..coward!

I know you are just venting. I hope that made you feel better.

In my experience most JWs really believe and have a hope of a paradise earth.

Instead of viewing the CO as a liar maybe it would help to think of him as mislead.

The hope of a paradise is what keeps most of them going.

I hope a time will come when you do not have to inflict this torture on yourself.

I know it took me along time to divest myself of the notion of a paradise earth and to appreciate the life I have now.

I understand your anger: I felt that way at a funeral service for my Father in law when the born again minister said God needed him in heaven. I had to excuse myself.

The point is every religion has some sort of false comfort but the ministers seem to believe it.

Now I know the paradise hope i was raised with is as much a false comfort as the hope the minister was preaching about.

Don't forget to breathe and go to your happy place.
