Thanks for the link. I thought the website was interesting. I think he did a good job making his points without the JW feeling threatened. I recommend reading the next blog called jw pioneer eats crow.

Reflections on 1 year WT Free-breaking the chains...
by MissFit inhi everyone.. i just realized that it has been over a year since i discovered this site and started to recognize i was shackled by invisible chains.
i am still in the process of chipping away on those chains.. i posted on another thread how these threads here are like little time capsules.
the moment, the emotions, the attitudes are all there frozen.. .

Apog: I am sorry that you feel distant from your family. I know exactly what you mean by health problems. I used to think my little JW sister was unique when it came to mysterious illnesses until I came to this board.
You are right many families experience strained relations some caused by religion and some caused by conflicting personalities.
I think mine are a little of both.
My oldest sister ( the scary one lol) was older when my mom converted (9 or 10).
She was a natural rebel and misfit as it was.
This was in the late 50s early 60's. My mom had her "out of wedlock" before mom met my dad.
Dad's family never approved of mom or my sis.
Then when my mom started studying with the JWs(JERKS is what my auto correct typed in lol
) my dads family really hit the roof. ( they were die hard Catholics. )
So my sis didnt fit in at the hall and her cousins gave her a hard time.
Then us girls came along.
So she has a big chip on her shoulder.
And she does blame JWs for a lot of her problems.
I do admire her. She had great survival skills and I know if someone caused me harm, she would hunt them down to the ends of the earth.
I mentioned in some of my previous posts that me and my 3 younger sisters were put in foster care when my mom had a nervous breakdown.
We were fostered by a JW couple. He became an elder. I found out he had been molesting my younger sister and turned him in when I was 11.
Sorry too much backstory.
No wonder we are so missed up.

Holiday season is coming up. I used to dread it. At work I used to have to walk a thin line. We do a lot of programs for children and like to incorporate current events. So holidays come up... Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas.
I always participated but would feel a little guilty like I was compromising.
Or I would feel guilty for not feeling guilty.
Now I can enjoy my work. We try to include everyone so we keep religion out of it but focus on traditions and seasonal things.
No guilt...Priceless.

I hope I'm not stumbling you, she said as we sipped drinks at the track...I
by MissFit ini have a sweet jw friend.
she is elderly and had heart problems and is hard of hearing.. she is a tiny thing and very loving.
she is a convert and had been "in" for around 20 years.. she came "in "after her divorce.. we started hanging out together a couple years ago when i called her for a ride to the meetings.. .

Yada yada: she is in her 80's. She was converted around 25 years ago.
She has a love for Jehovah but she seperates him from the congergation. She believes her faith and reliance helped her with her fight with cancer. Her faith gave her strength.
She told me once she didnt agree with the brothers on everything. That Jehovah is the one that will Judge.
I think it is important that we do not generalize and lump all JWs together.
She does what she thinks is best and if it doesnt make sense she rejects it.
She knows she can talk to me and I wont repeat.

feeling sad
by berrygerry inthe past number of months have been traumatic for myself and my family.. the fascist practices of the wts have wreaked monumental harm to us all - with 3 members hospitalized for suicide.. researching past events brings one to the overwhelmingly sad story of bethany hughes, and her parents lawrence and arliss.. (arliss was featured years later on a dc for her courage through their ordeal.).
larry did what any normal, loving father would do.. try to protect his daughter.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocex1eu5v6u.
it is doubly sad knowing personally one of the wts lawyers involved, and his relatives who have left the wts despite the harsh consequences.. sometimes, i wish there were a "dante" hell.. .

the flood, mammoths, elphants, and food.
by Crazyguy inmy question is since it looks as though mammoths were alive after the flood and we know elephants are then how much food was needed to feed just these four animals for the time they were on the ark.
also was the ark, 500 feet long, big enough to hold the amount of food needed for just these 4 animals.. .

I had Sunday lunch with my friend at the track again.
I think she doesnt want to bump into "the friends" and she knows there is a very slim chance we will run into them there. Plus they have great margaritas. 😉
If anything I am the stumbler. She always teases me of leading her astray because I never turn down a good margarita.
I provide her with nonjudgemental , fun association. I dont challenge her faith or her obvious reluctance to associate with " the friends."
She has never asked me why I dont go anymore. She knows I never felt like I fit In.
We enjoy each others company. I wouldnt trade those Sundays for the world.

Don't forget any hardships you may experience is a test from Satan.
What ever you are doing is never good enough.
