I have a sweet JW friend. She is elderly and had heart problems and is hard of hearing.

She is a tiny thing and very loving. She is a convert and had been "in" for around 20 years.

She came "in "after her divorce.

We started hanging out together a couple years ago when I called her for a ride to the meetings.

She used to be in my book study and I knew she lived close. I had returned from the assembly all revved up to restart my spiritual routine. No sitting on the fence for me any more.

Only problem was on the way home from said assembly, my engine blew and my husband had to drive up to get us and I had to have my car towed.

So here I was all ready to dive back in spiritually

and Satan already threw road block in front of me. (Even though I was the one that didnt check the oil)

So I was not going to be defeated... I asked dear Sister A for a ride and the rest is history.

We started going to lunch and getting a margaritas after the Sunday meetings.

Even after my car was fixed she insisted on taking me so we could go together.

For a whole year or so we supported each other and encouraged each other. She even would pick me up for service. I enrolled in the Ministry School and gave my first talk in 20 years.

She got sick and missed meetings. I was in a depressive cycle and if she didnt go, I didnt go.

Then some how we started completely skipping Sunday meetings and going straight to the lunch and margaritas.

We tried going to the meetings but she would get stressed and start getting chest pains.

So since the CO was here I checked to see if she was going. I would go with her in case she needed to leave early.

She said she thought about it but didnt feel up to being around everyone. I said what about lunch and a margarita?

So we are sitting at the track & casino restaurant and she looks at me and says" Tell me the truth am I stumbling you?"

I laughed and told her no.. Am I stumbling you?

So now we know we are not stumbling each other we ordered our margaritas and made plans to go to the Elk's club to watch a rock band next week.

    Miss.Fit.. completely unstumbled and awake.

That is great news, MissFit! Its so funny. She must have been worrying about that for a long time.

You should give her this website and others to help make the mental break, too.

Perhaps she knows the TTAT. Something about it is surely bothering her if she gets sick and stressed just getting dressed. I'm glad she has you. I'm glad you have each other.

Have a pomegranate margarita for me next time., please.

Hopefully you will stumble her into being awakened.

Thanks twice shy and wild thing.

She has told me that if it wasn't for her love for Jehovah, she would not be "in the truth".

She does things her own way. She still goes on her magazine route each month but she skipped the memorial and all meetings.

She knows I won't repeat what she says and she assures me she won't repeat what I tell her.

I just enjoy her company and let her do what she feels comfortable with. She has a bad heart and for awhile there she was resigned that she was dying. She got a new doctor and is doing better.

But I think her new philosophy is not to waste her time on things she doesn't like.

We have fun together and I want to make the most of the time she has left. (Which I hope is a long time)

How great is that? It's the perfect friendship, which meets the needs of both ...... you 'get' each other. She doesn't have to spend her last years in misery in the Kingdom Hall, and you both have each other to enjoy these times with.

    sounds lovely! :)

Everyone has their own path out of the madness. She will make her way out when she's ready! I think it so great she has you as a friend. I am guessing now that the two of you have an understanding that you are not stumbling each other, more interesting conversations about the organization may ensue!

That's a funny pleasent story. It's nice to see that we can sometimes stay in touch with our loved ones when we exit. This is good for lukers. I have a friend too, who still says "the truth" but doesn't go anymore. She thinks there is a local problem with the KHs. She doesn't realise the world wide issues with the cult.

That's fine though, we're still close friends.

That made me smile, especially the margharita time.

Life is too short not to enjoy it. As long as you are both happy with the situation. God does'nt want people to be miserable.

    Cheers.

@Kate: I'm glad that you are still close with your friend.

@Scary: thanks for your response. I really cherish sister A. and only want the best for her.

@tal: you're right it is a perfect friendship.

She knows I won't judge her for not going.

She also has not asked me why I don't go anymore.

We both have mentioned the lack of love and the fact we are ignored by the elders.

@wildthing: i agree: she will make her own path. I'll be there what ever path she chooses.

I make a point not to encourage her to go meetings. I tell her to listen to her body. She knows what is best for her health.
