Isn't the Celestial chariot originally of a pagan origin? Egyptian beliefs have the sun being dragged across the sky by a fiery sort of horse drawn chariot. Other; old faiths have something like this too. The GB is using pagan analogue to promote a faith, using a slogan. Wonderful, riveting stuff
I know there is mention of chariots in the bible, but this is not the oldest source of such a thing. It is pre dated by many other cultures.

Crazyguy,
This book was on the list of "reads" in our University reading options years ago; for those studying Anthropology or even Philosophy. I had this book of the Dead plus the Golden Bough, a revised version by Frazer..(think I have that authors name correct) I was told to turf it out as my time came to be baptised. The study conductors had actually more than two thirds convinced me of their demon inspired origins.
It was all a load of crap in the end, for the books were about other religious practices, beliefs, origins............you name it, it was fascinating. I can't believe I threw these books and many more valuable books away.

They are still terrified of anything that has been earmarked as Satanic. My sister and brother in law, went to NZ for a holiday. He bought some sort of gift at a gift store. I think it was a Maori type of design on some sort of lava, served up as a trinket.
He told me how that very night whilst in bed with his wife. He had the worst of demon attacks. It was infact just a terrible dream and we all have those from time to time. In the morning, having suffered through this" dreamon/attack", they went through everything in their luggage. Dismantling every map, flicking the pages in books.......Then they (said to me) prayed. Instantly, the source of this evil became evident. And yes you guessed it due to the foreshadowing........................It was this trinket that was demonised. Upon making this discovery, the awful, terrible, thing, was destroyed. So you see. The JWs love to promote the existence of S as much as possible. If old S is watching, then he must get a real kick out of such "advertising", even if it is negative. It's all the same.

Kingdom Hall Mortgage repayments letter

TS
Thank you for this. Just downloaded it as my sister told me last year, in a bemused sort of way.......That they had just been given this slip to fill in, for the purposes of making either a one off donation or budgeting for a weekly one. Although this is not necessarily about the ownership and debt regarding KHs, it seems to apply.
Has anyone ever looked at the merchandising that goes on? I'm sure you have.
Ministry Ideaz is doing great business these days.

It was more than creepy, although it was that too. It felt paranoid, as though they viewed everyone as a potential threat. There was this screen where the brothers' usually stand to give their talks. When the customary "song" was played over this hookup, those at the meeting paid no attention to it. Sydney Bethelite's were singing for them, so why look foolish and try to grab the spirit of the moment.
I was refused a study magazine for reasons unknown to me. There is something wrong with the entire feeling and atmosphere of this religion nowadays.

..."we Jehovah's witnesses want to assure you, YES, we believe in Jesus"....
That is a very strange statement to make at a convention.... That they have to publicly announce that they believe in Jesus?!. This seems to be due to the realization that many are deeply concerned at the total absence of Christ within this religion, except as a cursory ......."in Christ's name, amen.." at the end of a prayer.
Did they also publicly announce that they recognized Christ's authority and head ship over congregations? If not, then all they are saying is so much smoothing over, of the objections people have made with increasing frequency both inside and outside of this religion. I was at a meeting recently which was a hookup for Australasian regions from Bethel in Sydney. This was a rotten meeting to stumble upon (really, I had not been to a meeting for ages) The whole thing started off, with a rather stern setting down of the rules of the day.
1 No recording
2 No photography
3 Note taking is allowed, but you may not share your' notes with anyone outside of this meeting.
I was gob smacked at this little preamble to this so called special meeting. Brothers paced the place, looking anything but godly. They were really watching their own people, plus people like me (who scribbled furiously), to make sure this regulation was enforced. The whole thing was about gloating and bloating. The constant requests for money did not raise any thing more than a desultory sort of "clap clap clap" with each substantiation of why "we need your' help". No mention of Christ, just the GB

To My JW Brothers and Sisters
by Hold Me-Thrill Me into all brothers and sisters reading this site: "and i love you so" (remember the don mclean song?
)...is the feeling most of us had with regard to the watchtower and the brothers leading it.
but truly, who did we get baptized for?

A watcher.
This religion has bypassed Christ and taken his place as the head of the congregations. They hardly pay the respect that the Almighty has deemed a fitting response to the one who will do all the sorting, who will be charge of things before and after Armageddon. Namely Christ. There it is as clear as a bright day in the NT that we must respect the position of Christ, he came to do away with the old laws and teach a different way.
So how can any cause, religion, cult or otherwise.......call themselves remotely in the "truth" of this spiritual matter, when they seem to actually fear giving due respect and authority to the Christ. Then upon being asked if they are Christian, point blank....they will some how manage to say yes but with this caveat; but we are known as Jehovah's Witnesses?
They have physically put themselves above Christ these days. I have listened at meetings and have read that these men have now decided they are the ones who have God's backing. Preaching work aside, they only take care of their own members and often they fail to do that. I found a very ancient witness lady in a nursing home roughly three years ago. She was a true believer, yet she was never visited by any witness. It was pure chance that I was assisting another woman who had just been admitted, that this woman came to anyone's attention. The nurses said no one bothered with this woman.
At meetings, people are praying for God to benefit the GB, thanking God for the GB. They no longer thank God for Christ. Doesn't that mean something to you?

Strange but Sad!
by John Aquila ini had a couple of elders come visit me about an hour ago.
they wanted to inform me that a brother who was well known throughout the circuit had died.
(i actually knew about it but did not go to the funeral) he was about to hit 90 years old, missed it by a few weeks.

This is ugly to the core. My father was given a witness burial and I was left out. I went anyway and threw a nice pile of stones at coffin. I just could not forgive him. -

It sound like they are saying that the WT is not going to have to pay damages for the abuse Cont experienced. That although it was initially (the WT) found to be a guilty party in allowing this to happen. This initial finding has been reversed and remains reversed.
