The Tetragram (YHWH)
by RevFranklin inthis is the watchtower's equivalent to the theory of evolution - there is no evidence but it must be so.
in fact all the evidence points to the contrary.
there is not one new testament manuscript known today in which the tetragram appears and there is no evidence of a conspiracy to get rid of the tetragram.

listing of authorities and their date for the fall of Jerusalem
by M.J. insorry if this has been posted before.
i came across it and thought it was worth pointing out: http://members.tripod.com/sosoutreach/wts/607.html.
(edited) the annoying popup caused me to cut and paste the table from the page, rather than embed it: the narrative before and after is good too so you might want to check it out the original page.

Collegegirl:Two important things to avoid: (1) Appearing to be already knowledgeable about the point in question; (2) Using any reference material that might be construed as coming from "apostates".
You could say your fascinated by Babylonian history, and started reading what the Society has to offer, which led to you read the dreaded Insight books which in turn reference a Assyriologist named A.K. Robertson, which led you to read what he has written on the subject, which debunks everything the Society prints. And pose the question: why would the Society quote someone who's work totally contradicts there own?

The fact of the matter is that 607 is the only correct date for the Fall as it alone conforms to all of the biblical and secular data. The other dates are simply unworkable. The date 539 is correct
Sholar, you crack me up every time you try to defend the Towers' dates. Your grand claim of 607 proves to be your greatest weakness. Why you will not do your math escapes me. You with 607 cannot reach 539.
Have you at least worked on this problem? A little hint:
- use only Watchtower dates
- use only Watchtower literature
- use pencil and paper

I know of Bill Cetnar,(he and wife Joan were DF in early 60s over blood issue) he was in charge of the Northeastern US. I dont know if he held the titles of DO or CO. I'd have to ask his son.

What effect did armaggeddon/possible persecution have on your mental state?
by jambon1 ini was`nt brought up in the `truth`.
i have recently left and am amazingly happy.. one thing that got to me was my mental state of mind which became extreemly negative about the future.. i worried very much about non jw relatives (good people) dying at armaggeddon.
also reading the endless accounts of bros/sis being brutally tortured/raped etc really disturbed me.

Seeing those pics takes me right back to that moment in the Hall where as a child I just looked and stared, what a gruesome sight for young eyes.
They way I understand said theology, as far as punishment is concerned, there is none. Death, big deal. In one instant your gone, so what...you dont really suffer.
I think Russell got rid of eternal punishment for this very reason. There was a cartoon of Russell with a fire hose putting out the flames of Hell.
So being a non-dub or ex-dub, so what, a least you dont have to suffer eternity. Even if your in the new dub "paradise" and you screw-up what happens? Your zapped to death and thats it. No suffering.
This doctrine has many loose ends. Research helps unlearn the lies learned. Its been my best medicine.

Why can't you just move on?
by atypical inthat's what my wife said to me the night before last.
i was making an observation about the way my family and other jws in my life are constantly trying to get me to go to a meeting or read an awake, but they never want to sit down and address the questions i have raised to them.
she then asked me why i can't just move on.

Atypical,
This is a interesting topic, not only for the married unbelieving spouse couple. I recently had my parents(longtime active dubs) stay at my home for 3 months. What Ive noticed during that time was the fact that my mother and stepfather could openly discuss the goings on at the hall and field service, POs special meeting, and on and on.
But one single notion or mention of our church or any dialogue about the goings on in our faith, whoa look out, they turn into the faith police.
So the issue is, we could care less what goes on, other than the fact they regularly trade the truth for a lie, but we just feel that out of respect we do not chastise there religon, but why do they feel they have the right to be the faith police?
I guess its the "we have the truth" mindset. Dont get me wrong, Ive introduced many theological viruses to the both of them, only ending in red faced disgruntled behavior.
Sorry to say its a very tough road to continue on as a married couple.
