I think we're both dancing around a misunderstanding when in fact our views are probably identical.

Is it 'lawful for a 46 year old man to sleep with children in America? Yes.

Is it 'ok' for a 46 year old man to sleep with children in America? No.

I suspect your answers would be identical to mine - so what are we arguing about? I can say with my hand on my heart that I have not tried to obfuscate anything. I knew you were approaching this from the legal viewpoint but I thought that my initial remark "Legal authority my arse!" showed clearly enough that I was not interested in what the law said. My follow-up question "Are you saying it would be ok for me to let my 11 year old child sleep with a 46 year old man?" shows clearly where my concerns lay - with what was 'ok' not what was 'legal'.

How about we draw a line under this now?

Is it ok for Michael Jackson to have the book "Boy's will be Boy's" ...showing pornographic pictures of Children?

Does everyone think that is ok?

OK, Nicolaou, I agree. In fact I agree with you on both of your points; that it is legal for adults to sleep with minor children although it is not morally acceptable.

As for the past miscommunication, let's leave it where it belongs, in the past.

Reading the comments from the juors it was obvious that in the minds of some of the jurors MJ was guilty of prior incidents but that the state did not prove molestation in this one particular case. I still stand by my gut feeling that not everyone is lying and MJ is guilty. I understand MJ said no more sleep overs. With MJ money I am sure this will not stop him. It is very easy for a pervert to fly to a place like Thailand, buy what ever they want with no strings attached and hard for athorities to catch them.

I'm basing it on common sense ... a 40+ year old freaky guy who sleeps with kids (boys only? ... hmmnn). Occams razor ...

Now, given that the Jacksons are incredibly litigious and end up in court with practically everyone they have any dealings with it seems bizzarre that he would pay someone twenty million dollars *not* to go to court if he was innocent. -- Simon

To clarify, the alleged $20 million settlement (alleged because the settlement was confidential and no one but the parties thereto know exactly how much) was paid to the 1993 accuser, not the accuser who leveled the recently disposed of charges against MJ.

The Jackson's are "incredibly litigious," but they have played more defense than offense.

I agree with Simon on his first point. Common sense says there's problems with a 40 + year old guy who wants to sleep with minor children under the pretense of innocence. Still, having said that, I didn't believe the recent charges against Jackson. It was obvious to me that the accuser and his family were opportunists with a big pocket in their sights. It's too bad that DA Tom Sneddon was too consumed with his own need for revenge to recognize the reality of the accuser's claims.

Any parent who leaves their child with Jackson ought to be incarcerated.

Is this advice based on personal experience or just another slur on someone you have never met?

    trevor,

No I was not making a personal statement and I was not attacking anyone but only making a generalized statement. My point was that anyone with money can buy what ever they want.

"Is it ok for Michael Jackson to have the book "Boy's will be Boy's" ...showing pornographic pictures of Children?"

There's a difference between pictures depicting nudity and those depicting pornography. I am unfamiliar with the book Brooke mentioned but believe that if it did contain pictures that could legally be characterized as child pornography, Mr. Jackson would be looking through bars right now. Don't think for a moment that Sneddon wouldn't have charged him with this if he could have.

Sneddon's lust for vengeance against Jackson obviously clouded his judgment. Only a fool would try a case of this nature on the basis of the evidence he had. The key evidence he had was the testimony of the accuser and the accuser's mother. Given the conduct and demeanor of these two witnesses, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that this case was a house of cards, waiting to fall.

Sorry...The Book was called ..."The Boy"

Explain this? If he is Not Guilty then explain this?

'Child erotica' found during search at Jackson's Neverland Ranch
    By Diane Dimond
    Court TV

Normally, after the police serve a search warrant on a location, an itemized list of what has been confiscated is released to the public. But nothing about the Michael Jackson case has been "normal" — not during the investigation, which began in 1993, and not during the most current case, which started in 2003.

Most of the Jackson search-warrant returns have been heavily redacted, leaving the public to guess what kind of "books, magazines, videos and DVDs" were taken from Neverland Ranch.

Now, Court TV's Investigative Unit can reveal some of the specifics.

One of the books confiscated from Jackson's home in 1993 is entitled "The Boy: A Photographic Essay." According to child erotica connoisseurs on the Internet, this rare book is considered to be "a homoerotic classic." The book, published in 1964, contains dozens of photographs of nude prepubescent boys, many in suggestive poses. There are nude boys captured outdoors, nude boys who appear to be posing for the camera, and boys displaying full frontal nudity.

Dr. Patricia Farrell, who has worked with pedophiles and their victims, studied the book for Court TV and concluded, "I think that this book could be used as a vehicle in a plan for seduction." Dr. Farrell said the photos in the book are perfect ammunition for a pedophile to use to begin a dialogue with a potential victim.

"It's to introduce that whole sexual kind of atmosphere," Dr. Farrell explained. "Then you can begin to use [it] and go on from there. You know, it's like going through a maze [for the molester]. They don't go through directly to the target — you go this way and that way to get to the target."

Retired NYPD sex crimes investigator Joe Gelfand, who worked in the pedophile unit for 12 years along with associates from the FBI, also studied the book. In his opinion, the coffee-table-size tome "is geared for people who, I would say, would be sexually attracted to adolescent boys." Asked if he considered it a pornographic book, Gelfand told Court TV, "I've made any arrests in my day and many times we've seen photographs like this in the homes of pedophiles. It's not sexually explicit, but it is erotica. It is child erotica."

In addition to the book, CTV's I-Unit can confirm that investigators from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department also confiscated loads of pornographic material from various locations in Jackson's home. (Watch the video for a full list.)

Porn movies with titles like "Barely Legal" and "Pimp Up, Ho's Down" were taken from the entertainer's master bedroom. Pornographic materials were found in Jackson's master bathroom, his den and in a second-floor closet, as well.

Other law enforcement sources explained that it is important to understand the atmosphere in which a book like this is discovered. If it is found in the possession of someone who collects books on photography, that's one thing. If it is found among a collection of pornography, that might indicate that detectives were dealing with a pedophile.

The I-Unit can confirm that when the book was confiscated, pornography was found, too. Search warrants list numerous porn magazines, movies, photographs and books that were taken as evidence.

Both Dr. Farrell and Investigator Gelfand call the discovery of mostly heterosexual pornographic magazines significant, because many molesters of young boys use such material to excite and stimulate their prey.

"The pedophile may think that the adolescent boy ... will probably be excited to see these magazines, more so than, say, magazines involving naked men," Gelfand said.

Michael Jackson and his attorneys have consistently said that Jackson is not guilty of the charges against him.

"He would never harm a child," his team has repeated many times. In the courtroom in Santa Maria, Calif., lead defense attorney Tom Mesereau has indicated they will present evidence at trial that proves the young accuser at the center of the current case (and his brother) helped themselves to Jackson's pornography collection —without the entertainer's permission.

That could explain how the boy's fingerprints got on a copy of a magazine called "Barely Legal." Sources tell Court TV forensic tests found both the boy's prints, as well as Jackson's fingerprints, on the same magazine.

The jury said they believed he had molested boys, but just hadn't been convinced he molested *that* boy.

I hope he kills himself or something, sick freak.
