Your belief after leaving JW

Hibiscusfire, I thought we were discussing love. Now you are back on sex again. What was it, eighteen posts to the naked thread? You are obsessed.

Your thoughts on modern morality are scattered and almost incomprehensible. Are you saying that portraying the roommates, Bert and Ernie, are PORN? PORN on Sesame Street? Are you saying that portraying an openly homosexual person on television (not the act, just the person) is PORN?

I would rather you went back to the discussion on love. Really.

By the way I was responding to your last post concerning Sesame Street. And like I said I am getting a lot of trouble on the net

    Jgnat:

    1. Do we really feel the love we long for?

I think this is why Jesus is described as the River of Life rather than the Lake of Life. The Mystery of God’s love is that no matter how much we give out, God fills us up faster. This goes against the earthly concept of diminishing resources. But it works. So, instead of seeking after love, have the reassurance that it is freely provided. Then, out of that great abundance, give it back out again as fast as you can.

The water in a lake or dam, on the other hand, stagnates. If you try and hoard God’s gift you end up losing it. Like manna in the desert.

Well if everyone thought like that it would be fine. How can people realize that LOVE MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND then? But just what kind of love is people looking for? People mistake love into something else. Can you have love and not be happy? Would you say happiness is above love?

    2. Why is it so hard to love people sometimes?

Regular people are not hard to love if I am living in a state of abundance. See question number 1.

If someone is having a bad day it’s difficult to show love.

    3. How do you love someone who has hurt you?

I hate evil. I won’t ever stop hating evil or speaking out against it. Jesus spoke out against injustice, so I do too. It is possible, however, to separate the person from the action. I forgive my abusive husband, for instance. That does not mean I won’t speak up if I see he is about to hurt someone else. That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t turn him in if he did something illegal. Loving people are not doormats.

I hate evil too. I hate injustice. I become hyper. I know you can separate the person from the action…. Families do it all the time…BLOOD IS THICKER THAN WATER. But exactly we are not doormats!!!!! Kind and softhearted people are the ones bad people target.

HIbiscus, I am beginning to wonder if you can distinguish individuals from the crowd. You talk about "people" do this and "people" do that. But the world is made up of "people" just like you and me.

You should know, too, that good day or bad day, God gives us grace for each one. Are you telling me it is too hard to love like Jesus loves in these last days?

When Peter asked Jesus how many times he was to forgive his brother, how many did it work out to? We love automatically, out of the abundance God provides, and the crowds become inconsequential by comparison. God is bigger.

Well it seems that there is a lot of hate in the world now isn’t there. It’s not hard to do but people don’t do it as they should. How can we be like Jesus if some people don’t even accept HIM?

I try everyday…but sometimes it’s difficult when evil people get you angry. I will still keep trying is that bad? HIB

Let's work from general to specific. I want you to make a list of the people you deal with daily. The postman, your hairdresser, people at work, they youths behind the counter at McDonald's, the bus driver, and so on. If it takes a day or two to make the list, that's fine with me. How many of these people are evil? Percentage-wise. You don't need to list all the individual names.

I'm talking trees, here, not the forest.

I’m really don’t know how I can calculate that but where I live it’s about 80% evil people.

They do a lot of witch craft and wish people bad things.

Hib~ you come across as a big contradiction. You claim to not be able to calculate a figure and then in the same sentence say it's about 80%. What jgnat is asking you to do is to think about the people you know, (really know not just assume that you do.) and if they are evil or not.

HIbiscus, you talk about the great difficulty of loving people because they are so evil.

I was reminded of the spies who checked out the promised land. Only those men who knew God is more powerful saw the opportunity. The others only saw the evil there and predicted failure.

I was also reminded of David facing Goliath. All his brothers saw was an unbeatable man, and cowered in fear. David knew the power of his God and overcame.

It is not hard for a Christian to love because they give out the abundance that God provides. Their foundation is God, so great obstacles can be overcome.

Hibiscus, if you do not see the individual people around you, you are blind.

Also, do you distinguish between sin and evil? I do.
