All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Yet when we ask God to forgive us He does but we must turn away from the things that displeases God because He would leave us to do what we want --- THERE IS WHERE THE TROUBLE LIES. Satan (evil) gets a hold of us and we allow it - IT'S NOT GOD FAULT- IT'S YOUR FAULT AND MY FAULT.
LOL. well, isn't that special.
Religious beliefs? I have none, and don't feel the need for them. There is no hole in my heart that needs to be filled by a belief system and I have no desire to worship a divine entity. ---Talesin
Ditto!
Someone else said a couple of pages back, "Don't feed the trolls!" DITTO! This thread is about what your "belief" is after leaving JWs---not disputing others' belief. Christians are often so darned intolerant!
As far as the word itself, belief, I've found that religious people believe everyone has to believe in something. Not in my opinion. Belief is when you don't have proof of something. I don't feel I believe anything at all. I think evolution probably happened, but it's not a belief. If science comes up with a better explanation, then I'd consider that.
If anything, I'd classify myself as a humanist, if that's what I think it is. It's that humans are what should be depended on to solve the multiple problems to be faced.
Cheers!

Hibiscusfire- I'm sorry, but we have heard all this before!
That is one of the reasons that I don't want a bar of religion in all its forms.

Ofcourse it is good to believe in oneself and have confidence. But I am sure there are times when you doubt yourself. So who do you turn to, or what do you turn to for help when you cannot come up with the answer?
What if man cannot supply you with the solution?

You said you would characterise yourself as a humanist:
Humanist = normal ordinary person who thinks he/she knows right from wrong for mankind
Would you apply the 10 commandments here?

If you have heard this before then did it at least make you think for a second if it were true or not?
Religion....hmmm man made yes
God....I AM THAT I AM -Today, yesterday and forevermore - the beginning and the end, the first and the last
The earth....a big bang existence? Nope. Science? Nope........God? Yes!
Life......Science? Nope........God? Yes...how else would you explain it.
But I am sure there are times when you doubt yourself. So who do you turn to, or what do you turn to for help when you cannot come up with the answer?
Actually, self doubt, as you know, is one of the main things the JWs use. It no longer works.
Why doubt myself? I'd rather die arrogant and conceited.
I turn to wise people, who have been around longer than me.
And yes, there are things that no one can answer, so I pick an answer...
If you ask me first thing in the morning I would tell you that the Coffee Pot is god and and I am thankful to receive its bountiful blessing....
You know what.....
Words like "disease," "antisocial behavior," and "lack of moral development" have replaced the word "sin." This change of language exposes a major shift in modern morality
Parents are increasingly frustrated that even "good" TV is becoming polluted and public school curricula is laced with the lies of evolution, sexual perversion and the "political correctness" of socialist and humanist philosophy.
