The Outsider by Albert Camus.

It is anti-religious, anti Islam in particular. It caused particular upset to the Islamic faith because of the way that in the dream world of story prostitutes are liken to wives of Mohammed. It is an excellent story if you can get into it.

I also love The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho - it can be a very life changing book for some.

The True Believer, by Eric Hoffer. It's more an analysis of the psychology of mass movements, but I enjoyed reading it as if it was a novel.
