what's the deal in the 'new system'?

Leaving the tower was easier for me when I stopped and contemplated what the future would hold if the JWs were right after all. Everlasting life on earth under threat of death if like Adam, Eve the Devil, the Israelites in fact most of the human race, I made a mistake at any time. To live in a world run by strict elders who have been elevated to princes seemed a worse fate than death.

I tried to imagine living in a world where there were no worldly people to provide entertainment by doing all the things they would be killed for doing in a new world. Even simple family films, such as, 'The Sound of Music' & 'South Pacific' were based on war and love affairs. Would we be allowed films, theatre, novels and what would their content be? What drama would there be to write about in a world where no drama takes place in reality? I tried to imagine enjoying a novel where every character acted the same and lived like a model elder. The outcome of the story would be a foregone conclusion, and there would be no point in writing the book or reading it. Even the Bible is a book of high drama from beginning to end. It is true to life.

There has to be degree of drama and freedom to choose our path of there is no point to the exercise. Would alcohol be allowed or T-bone stake, our favourite music or freedom to talk freely, even through the Internet as we are doing now? A large part of our present short life span is occupied with growing up, youth, middle age and old age. In addition raising a family saving for retirement and so on. We are not the same for very long. In eternity we would reach a time when nothing changed, no children were born, no one passed away and we never changed; yet life thrives on change.

After a few hundred years of living in such a world people would start to break the rules out of boredom viewing the death penalty as a relief. I know there are people who think they could live in such a world stripped of all culture - over five million at present - and they are of the mind set that don't get bored, and have proved this by continuing to attend meetings and going through the same mind-numbing routine for whole lifetimes.

No meat. no clothes, all animals are "cuddly".... why don't they call it what it is DISNEYLAND!

Hoard your E tickets (has it been that long), that's how you get on all the "good" rides.

I heard SAM HERD of the GB say in a talk once...when he was still a lowly DO... that all of us would eventually have no need for the marriage arrangement and would be able to come and go as we pleased. This backfired in a HUGE way. All the sisters with assholes for "heads" were like you mean we have to put up with our loser husbands no matter what, so "God" can set them free to screw whoever they want in the pair a dice?

He recanted his comment the following day at the Assembly.

My dad used to use this as the reason we had to plow about 7 acres with a mule when I was 10 up until I left home. We wouldn't have motorized equipment in the new system so we may as well make sure we knew how to do everything using animals.

Geeze trevor . LMAO I don't thik things would be so boring , in fact I think it would be very exciting . Just think you wont have to work for a thankless greedy employer , your family that makes it won't die on you , you won't die if you make it , all needs are taken care of with complete security , I personally think the possiblities are endless , forget about the web , who needs the web when you can actually go see people you are talking to without the riff raff without worrying how you will pay for it . As far as music and entertainment goes I can imagine alot of really good music , excluding kingdom melodies , would be OK . God does promise some things that are not defined in detail . Mostly he promises you will be happy .

I remember us all sitting around speculating. The guys speculated if they might get to go alanatural. LOL We did feel there would be no meat eating, and noticed that the pictures in the WTS of that time showed no meat being served. That all the women were wearing dresses. All us girl protested that. What about soft drinks? No cars that can pollute, back to horse and buggies. LOL No children born to those resurrected. Only ones making babies would be those who survived. So silly all that speculation wasn't it. It was our efforts to make it more real I suppose. We'd all eat healthy and attend even more meetings each week of spiritual enlightenment. TV's that did nothing but broadcast WTS propaganda, and the recent resurrection. No more doctors, nurses, hospitals. No more illness.

Good grief I am so glad to be out of that nonsense. Talk about how unrealistic it all was.

i noticed how one elder would say that there'd be no football(soccer) and another would say yes there would be. unfortunatley i never got to play these two off against each other lol.

i also remember 2 jws arguing whehter or not we'd have winters. the one who argued that there would started to win the arguement, so i interjected and said 'great, that means i can still go skiing!', for which i was given a stare.

I'm just in a state of shock now that I used to hand out tracts with a picture of a lion holding a beach ball on the cover.

My mistake - it wasn't a tract - it's the Require brochure. From the Society's website:
