If a brother or sister in a congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses has a known past of being a child molester or sexual predator, can they be appointed as an elder, MS, or regular pioneer? Ah! So the past does matter!

Does it matter that Mormons were once Polygamists? Yes because that beginning still haunts Mormons to this day not to mention those small strange Mormon sects that use the past to justify their practice of it.

Does it matter that the Catholic Church has a history of protecting pedophiles? Yes, because it contributed to their present day problems.

It matter's because the past influences the future. If a group like the JW has a preposterous past under Russell and Rutherford their history will continue to unravel in this modern INTERNET age.

Rutherford's hand is still clasped around the throat of the society........it is still his organization in every sense of the word. The culture at Bethel continues to this day to reflect Rutherford's dishonesty and hypocrisy. The mistakes in their dogma, fashioned by people like Freddy Franz, constantly needs to be defended and with the blood issue......... continues to kill it's believers. The policy of shunning is as bad and in many ways worse as it continues to this day dividing families over a variety of non bible issues.

Try as they might the WTBTS has never really escaped it's past. They can't help but bring it forward into the future.

    Does the WTS's past matter?

If a JW asked me that question to make light of their organization's past false teachings, false prophecies expectations, and pagan teachings, I would simply respond by asking:

Does Christmas' past [or origins] matter?

Does Birthday's past [or origins] matter?

If the past doesn't matter, then holidays are ok to celebrate, because their pagan pasts don't matter.
