I have only had troubles with 2 bosses, both male. They were chauvanists, and disliked by every female under them. It bound us together.
OTOH, I despair of many female co-workers when the boss is female. They are so catty and gossipy. But I haven't had to deal with that situation for 20 years now.
...The other day I was going thru Mervyns Dept store, and the sales clerks who were setting up displays were gossiping very loudly and freely. I don't miss working in that kind of environment.

This reminds me of the men in the breakroom where I work. Not that women don't do it, too once in a while.
Do any of you remember the episode of the Andy Griffith Show where Aunt Bea and her friends teach Andy and the men in town a powerful lesson about gossip? Gossip is a weakness of women: not men.
The clever town's women proved the men just as good at gossiping. They set up a situation to allow the men to see for themselves. The men ended up decided a traveling shoe salesman was really a Hollywood talent scout.
Before long, there was a line of fathers and children outside the salesman's hotel room door. The men would go in under the guise of buying shoes and have their children sing, play instruments, etc. Finally, when the very happy salesman was about to leave Mayberry, Andy figured out that the salesman was only a salesman. The men had to admit that men are just as prone to gossip as women.
I always have admired Andy Griffith and Desilu productions for being unbiased towards women in their writing of Andy Griffith.
