I'm very happy that Canada is doing negative.

    Thanks for the statistics info.

I have a confession to make:

I don't have the new figures because I don't have the new mag. I just made them up because I thought it would make people take an interest in me...

I don't have any more idea than anyone else whether there is an increase in Canada, Cambodia or Atlantis for that matter.

I am just a lonely guy... don't beat me up :)

In short, while the validity of last year's 2.2% increase over the year previous to that may be questioned, the 2.0% increase in the new service report is not affected one way or the other by the 15 minute rule relative to last year.

Math was never my best subject, slimboy, but it seems to me an artificial "bump" of 2.6% in a set of numbers carries forward continuously; thus, the figures for this year are indeed about 2.6% higher than they would be if they used the same counting technique that was in effect for decades prior to the service year that ended in 2003. So while you are correct (I think!) about comparing this year and last year, the new totals are still skewed upwards by somewhere between 2 and 3 %. Right?

On the other hand, given your most recent post in which you said you made this all up, I guess it doesn't matter!

FairMind: I was an elder for more than 20 years before I resigned my position and began to fade last year. I pray to be forgiven for shameful deeds committed in God's name-- if not in this life, in the next.

    Willyloman,

The figures for years to come will be skewed relative to years previous the the change in the 15 minute rule (pre-2003), but they will not be skewed relative to each other.

The 2.2 increase in 2003 was affected by the change,

but the "2.0" increase in 2004 was not affected by the change since the new rule was opperative in both 2003 and 2004.

The totals from now on will have benefitted from the artificial boost in 2003, but the ave increases in years to come will not be affected, since a change in policy like this can only yield short-run benefits in terms of improved growth figures.

Future changes may yeild greater artificial boosts to the numbers, but the 15 minute rule has already been spent.

Just be yourself, and people will notice you.

But one thing that is valued on discussion boards more than anything is honesty. You don't have to tell anything about yourself you don't want to, but whatever you say should be real. Otherwise people will ignore you as they will think you're only interested in playing games.
