Do you believe that you are the only ones who will be saved?

No. Many millions who have lived in centuries past and who were not Jehovah's Witnesses will come back in a resurrection and have an opportunity for life. Many now living may yet take a stand for truth and righteousness before God's time of judgment, and they will gain salvation. Moreover, Jesus said that we should not be judging one another. Humans look at the outward appearance; God looks at the heart. He sees accurately and judges mercifully. God has committed judgment into Jesus' hands, not ours.?Matthew 7:1-5; John 5:22, 27.

that's their "pc" position on salvation. all of us on the inside and out know otherwise.

Someday they will quit telling lies. By then everyone will have left.

That is a direct quote from the Reasoning book and is the official position. The unofficial, yet clearly spoken position is that those who stray from the borg are as good as dead. They often use the illustration of a volcano and the danger zone and how we can stray in and out of the danger zone without realizing it...

And if they don't, they are toast.

    w89 9/1 p. 19 Remaining Organized for Survival Into the Millennium ***

Only Jehovah?s Witnesses, those of the anointed remnant and the "great crowd," as a united organization under the protection of the Supreme Organizer, have any Scriptural hope of surviving the impending end of this doomed system dominated by Satan the Devil. (Revelation 7:9-17; 2 Corinthians 4:4) They will make up the "flesh" that Jesus Christ said would be saved through the worst tribulation of all human history.

No. Many millions who have lived in centuries past and who were not Jehovah's Witnesses will come back in a resurrection and have an opportunity for life.

In other words, they will only be saved if they become JW's after they are resurrected.

Many now living may yet take a stand for truth and righteousness before God's time of judgment, and they will gain salvation.

In other words, only those among the living who become JW's before the big A will be saved.

Moreover, Jesus said that we should not be judging one another. Humans look at the outward appearance; God looks at the heart. He sees accurately and judges mercifully. God has committed judgment into Jesus' hands, not ours.?Matthew 7:1-5; John 5:22, 27.
In light of the previous two statements, this is pure weaseling.

Blondie already made a good response, but I'll take a crack at it too. Let's take a close look at the quote. This is deceptive writing because it obscures their actual position.

Many millions who have lived in centuries past and who were not Jehovah's Witnesses will come back in a resurrection and have an opportunity for life.

Translation: They could not have been JWs since JWs didn't exist. They will get a shot at being JWs.

Many now living may yet take a stand for truth and righteousness before God's time of judgment, and they will gain salvation.

Translation: Many now living may yet become JWs, which would lead to their salvation.

Moreover, Jesus said that we should not be judging one another. Humans look at the outward appearance; God looks at the heart. He sees accurately and judges mercifully.

This is an incredible misstatement of the actual position, which Blondie's quote above makes clear. This is public relations fluff. If God looks at the heart accurately and judges mercifully, he should be aware that there are billions of honest and sincere people out there who are not, and never will be, JWs. But you will never find such a concept in JW doctrine.

God has committed judgment into Jesus' hands, not ours.?Matthew 7:1-5; John 5:22, 27.

...but, as the JW line usually continues, "We don't judge, because God has already made clear what the requirements are for survival. We don't judge gay people - God already has." Etc, etc.

The paragraph makes for excellent PR, but is a serious misrepresentation of the actual doctrine. The writers for the Watchtower should take their own counsel on honesty. True honesty means telling the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

Wow, Dan and I posted almost identical replies, written in isolation. That makes "two witnesses," so to speak! :)

This theology creates the most agonizing mental twists for a Jehovah's Witness. I think it is responsible for several murder-suicides by ex-members. This is how it works.

    1. If you are worldly now and you die before Armageddon, you will be reconstituted in Paradise Earth (just add water) and will have another shot at getting through a study. If you still hate the study, Jehovah will instantly zap you.
    2. If you are worldly now and you are alive at Armageddon, you are buzzard meat.
    3. If you are a weak Jehovah's Witness without a field service report, and you are alive at Armageddon, you are probably buzzard meat. If you die before Armageddon, see point 1.
    4. If you are an active Jehovah's Witness with a current field service report, you are probably OK. Don't get bored with the study materials. You wouldn't want Jehovah to zap you in Paradise Earth.
    5. If you are a weak Anointed, you are probably not Anointed. You will probably die before Armageddon, though you were not supposed to.
    6. If you are a strong Anointed, you will probably die before Armageddon, though you were not supposed to. You will lose your sex and loved ones in return for the chance to sit in Heaven and rule the reconstituted ones down on Paradise Earth.

Because of this theology, my poor JW husband grieves for his "worldly" mother, whom he hopes to see one day. He is confident in Jehovah's boundless love, so he knows his mother will have the future hope of Paradise Earth. He, however, is a category four Jehovah's Witness, so he is much less hopeful that he is firmly in Jehovah's memory. How sad is that?

Because of this theology, a demented ex-member would be better off killing himself and his loved ones, if he ever hopes for them all to be together again someday.

Moreover, Jesus said that we should not be judging one another.

But if you don't do enough hours in the field service, or go to all your meeetings, you can't have certain privileges.
