I don't think you can do justice to 70s metal without some Black Sabbath. Toss in Ozzy's first few solo albums as well. Diary of a Madman & Blizzard of Ozz are a couple of my all-time favs. Occult? Some would say so. Download some MP3s before you buy, if you're unsure.

While you're at it, check out Deep Purple. Their Machine Head album is also on my fav list. Hmmm ... also, try Iron Maiden, Blue Oyster Cult, Ted Nugent, ... how many options do you want?

I think Wasted Years is the name of the song you're referring to.

Some of the "hair metal" bands actually had some excellent music. I prefer to think of what they look like now, since most, if not all have dropped the pink tights, puffy hair, leather pants, etc. Here's some examples:

    Pretty Boy Floyd
    Cinderella
    Motley Crue
    Kix
    Poison
    Twisted Sister
    Winger
    Warrant
    Skid Row

Some stuff from the 70's that you might like (some are still around):

    Led Zeppelin
    Blue Oyster Cult
    Alice Cooper
    Uriah Heep
    Magnum
    UFO
    AC/DC
    Nazareth
    Accept
    KISS
    Judas Priest
    Dio

Stuff from the 80's (some of these may be hair metal)

    Iron Maiden
    Guns N Roses
    Megadeth
    McAuley Schenker Group
    Saigon Kick
    LA Guns
    Cats in Boots
    Kick Axe
    Helix
    Saxon
    Mr. Big
    Kingdom Come
    Vinnie Vincent Invasion
    Quiet Riot
    Autograph
    Gwar
    Helloween
    WASP
    Triumph
    Whitesnake
    Spinal Tap

    And, from the 90s

    House of Lords
    Ugly Kid Joe
    Danger Danger
    White Zombie
    Soundgarden
    Live
    Stone Temple Pilots
    Nirvana
    Pearl Jam
    Offspring

this is great stuff guys, I'm gonna be busy this weekend. I think I was born in the wrong time, I should have been a teenager in the 70's, all of my favorite groups seem to have emerged in the 60's and 70's.

RUSH was great, but I thought they took a nosedive through the 80s & 90s. Their music just didn't have the same drive that their earlier albums had ... I'm thinking specifically of albums like Fly By Night and 2112 as being among their best. Their All The World's a Stage live album was pretty good, too.

Speaking of RUSH, they're on their 30th Anniversary tour this year. Have any of you seen them in concert lately?

The two Scorpions CDs I have are Face the Heat (I love this album) and Pure Instinct. They rock.
