There is a very simple answer to what was the Good News, the problem is that most people cant accept it.

BUt first lets recall what Jesus said when he was supposedly around in the 30s AD. He preached that his generation was wicked, and that the kingdom of the Son of Man would come within their generation, and predicated how and when Jerusalem and the temple would be destroyed. This means the event must happen somewhere between 30 + one generation or 40 years. In 70 AD the son of the god Vespasian came and destroyed Jerusalem and the temple. He saved Israel from the rebellious Jews who were going around killing other factions and traitors who tried to live peacefully. THis might not be the answer most xians want to accept, but simple history shows this to be true. The kingdom of God or Vespasian did come back to israel, when his son cleaned the country. The Good News was his son has crushed the rebels and Rome was in control again.

Israel was not a pleasent or even safe place back then. There were many military freedom fighting nut jobs, its easy to fnd the stories on wiki for starters.
