Goodbye Mother

So my Mother passed on 20 Aug 23 from the big C. I was there when she went. That was indeed very traumatic. I won't go to describe it.

Dad went 17 years ago so there's just me now. I have a step sister up in Scotland who is very JW. I didn't contact her as she has shunned me these years so she can now feel the effects of the results of shunning. Anyway, My Mother wasn't her Mother.

My adult children helped greatly with clearing the bungalow and doing a lot of the admin. There's so much to do.

We invited her close Jobot friends along with rellies.

I refused to have a JW funeral because it is no more than a recruitment ad for the filthy, disgusting cult.

Instead, a family friend (Ex-Catholic), gave a 5 minute Eulogy about Mother's life. He mentioned that she held 'Christian' beliefs. (That's another story). One of my sons read her favourite scripture from a Bible that wasn't a corrupt JW one.

After the service at the Crematorium, we were escorted to the 'garden of remembrance' to lay flowers and view those already there.

All the Jobots kept away. No words. No contact at all. During the service they all sat at the very back in a group.....and it doesn't matter to me. Amazing how well the Corporation fear and propaganda works. They can all go and soil their undies for all I care. I guess at least they were there, so there is that.

So, here we are. Another 'rich tapestry' phase gone through.

Very sorry to hear about your loss punkofnice. Thank you exerting what influence you had in preventing the infomercials the WT makes of our loved ones.

I admire you. Condolences, and may your mother rest in peace.

So sorry to hear that, I know the pain and grief that accompanies the loss of a dear loved one, especially your mother.

My own dear mum, a JW until she died, passed away over a decade ago. I still think of her often, with fondness, and miss the old girl, even though we didn't see eye to eye on a lot of things in life, from when I was young, and latterly of course, on her beliefs.

I'll be thinking of you, I hope you get the support you deserve.

    Love yer Punkie.

So sorry for the loss of your mom.

I am glad you did not have a JW funeral as it is nothing more than an infomercial. And never mind the Witnesses who refused to speak. The religion caused them to lose their humanity. Good riddance to them.

    My condolences, punkofnice.

My mother had a close call last year, and being in her mid-80s I know she may not have long. She will definitely want a JW funeral. I won't deny her that if it's what she wants, and we can't do much about it anyway, scattered as we are. She gave her time and energy to the WTS for almost 60 years now, with little to show for it. She's been waiting for the end since the late-60s, and remains convinced that it's almost here.

@punk: My condolences. Sorry for your loss.

I refused to have a JW funeral because it is no more than a recruitment ad for the filthy, disgusting cult.

Good lord, this is true. In the last two years, my wife lost two grandmothers and one aunt - all JW services. Being on the outside and hearing the pitch during a funeral service just made me so angry.

I'm glad to hear that your mother received, in my opinion, a more dignified service.
