Hello everyone. I sometimes was redirected to this page from reddit or another ex-JW site but never bothered to sign up. I wanted to stay off the radar but since I'm getting dis-fellowshipped anyways and have no plans to come back what the hell. I don't have much to tell you. Been 22 years in the truth........... ahhhh I hate to use that expression...... bad habit but you know what I mean. Converted after college under pressure from my family. Not that I didn't believe it---- OH I did believe it because it seemed like every week I was saying "the truth makes so much sense!" Well of course it made sense when the information you are using (Watchtower publications) is all cut and trimmed to fit their agenda of the JW.org mentality. Going out in service and having the smoke blown up your ass makes you really feel good about being a JW and all the good feelings and unanswered questions to everything seem to come together.

Being a JW is like living a world of pink unicorns and rainbows made from skittles. You're sheltered and protected and made to feel that way--------------- so long as you play by their rules! OH yes you need to follow the rules of men or else you are not going to be saved! Put your service time in each month and on time. Get to every meeting, on time and prepared. Give answers. Hide your tattoos. Don't wear perfume because it might offend someone or cause unexpected arousal of a brother. Don't show too much cleavage! Hide those knees! Make donations.

And then something changed about 2 years ago. I noticed a few in my hall started to drop away. At the time I thought they were no longer spiritual and needed help. But the reality was I was the one who was sick under the spell of a cult.

The worst thing about being a Jehovah's Witness is not knowing you are in a cult. OH no that can't be. WE are most definitely not a cult since we don't murder babies and eat their hearts in secret underground meetings!

But the JW.org is guilty of many many many deaths from suicide because of shunning, child abuse and other crimes, deaths from refusing blood transfusions. So many things. All the people who gave up on getting an education and having children because the GB said not to.

When you are inside you can't see that it is a cult. Step outside for 5 minutes and suddenly the light shines on the darkness. And I have been captive for too long. I'm enjoying every vice there is and it feels great. Here is to everyone who is awake! I love you all!

And thank God for the internet!

I enjoy smoking some weed sometimes cigs and drinking more than eating now. Lost already 20lbs. Another reason to leave the cult.

Hi, and welcome to the rest of your life.

One word of advice: step away from the cigarette pack. It's one hell of a monkey to have on your back. : )

Lately, there has been a lot of religious discussion here. There used to be more social talk, but there have been a lot of 'discussions' between atheists and Xtians. *yawns*

    So, what's your field?

Yup. If all I ever was exposed to was Nazi propaganda, I'd be a good little National Socialist.

I compare it to one of those courtroom drama shows. After the prosecution puts on its case, everyone at home is ready to get the pitchforks out and hang the bastard. Until the defense starts to go through their evidence and all of a sudden you realize there's more to the matter than meets the eye. When you're a JW you only get halfway through the trial. You never get to hear the other side of it because, well, that would be apostasy.

By the way who runs this place?

Most of the time, the inmates here run the place.

Occasionally the "warden" (Simon) has a thing or two to say.

Glad you decided to join the asylum. We're the only people who can really understand the craziness you've been living!

(BTW -- If you haven't already, read "Combatting Cult Mind Control" by Steve Hassan (former Moonie).

    Doc

The greatest revenge is living a happy and successful life!
