Ask your good buddies in the congregation to let you research tattoos on their Watchtower DVD. I think your independent thinking will sink this whole JW sham for you. You are too clear headed to fall for their scam. Get non-JW viewpoints because they control the input of JW's and keep them ignorant of the reality of the world around them. Always ask "Why?" and don't accept fishy bullshit answers and you'll be ok.

    Hi Matthew,

    Read Matthew 24 v 25 - 27

Ask them why their leaders take a parable of Jesus, apply it to themselves and use it as a way of making all JW's comply with their rules and beliefs which can be changed as they decide. (often)

Go to Wikipedia and look at Faithful and Discreet Slave.

I was a jw for over 40 years and was a Presiding Overseer (Now called Co-ordinator of the Body of Elders.) I know my stuff.

Others on here know more than me.

    Ask away and welcome.

Welcome Matthew. I hope you're not a troll.

Run away. Don't get involved with this corporation. It's a scam. Run like the wind and don't look back.

They don't study the bible, they take individual verses out of context to get you to buy into their scam and get money for their leaders from you.

Don't be fooled. JWs are trapped in a high control group. All that glitters is not gold.

Please research outside of their enforced recommendations.

Find out all you can about the Australian Royal Commission into child abuse.

Then, ask them about the Australian Royal Commission and they won't have a clue about it because of the corporation's information control.

Run, mate. Get the hell out of there as fast as you can.

Welcome to the board Matthew glad to have you on this site. You say you are new to the "truth" ?

What exactly is "truth" according to JW`s ? What they believed 5 years ago ? it`s changed ,10 years ago ? it`s changed 20 years ago ? its changed 50 years ago ? its changed over 100 years ago ? it is always changing according to Jehovah`s Witnesses .

If Jehovah the God of truth was in fact directing this religion why couldn`t he say what was true and factual in the first place instead of giving them untruths in the meantime ?

Use your brain Matthew does "truth" change ? Their is no such thing as past truths ,new truths ,old truths that the JW`s have used in the past to excuse their false prophecy`s ,interpretations ,and evident expectations .

I'll make an analogy that you might be able to relate to: In many ways Jehovah's Witnesses operate exactly like street gangs!

    1. The contact starts by just hanging out with some members. All is cool. No pressure.
    2. During this initial period, you may be asked to run small errands, make some small changes in your life.
    3. After some time there's a big initiation that makes you a full member of the group.
    4. Once your in, you can't get out without being damaged somehow. The pressure to stay in is enormous.
    5. There's a dress code: tattoos and hoodies in a specific color, or suits, ties, skirts and a fake 'Kingdom smile'
    6. The leader is always right and cannot be contradicted. Do not doubt their decisions. Loyalty trumps all else.
    7. You're not allowed to be friends with people in other gangs/groups. Can't date a rival either.
    8. The group cultivates and us vs them mentality, whether that be our gang vs rivals or police, or our religion vs 'the world'.
    9. Fear is used as a motivator.

Well...if you have to choose, please join the JW. At least they aren't shooting people up or selling drugs.

But if you value your own freedom to make decisions, to live your life as you see fit, you might want to reconsider....

Hi Mathew, any piercings or tatoos are a big no no for JWs. They do not want you to have your own identity. They insist on you following their rules to the latter. As has been said you will have been loved bombed. That is what they do to anyone new. And certainly once a person gets baptised you have to abide by all Watchtowers rules. You will find them all listed, just google it. The org is dying, so they are desperate to get anyone new as a member.

Please make sure you research JWs properly, you will be appalled when you learn more about them.

Welcome Mathew. I was what you call a born-in. Served as a elder for 25 years. Left with my wife in 2011 at the age of 56. What everyone has said is the truth and I cannot add anything else to it. Please do your research. Take care and good luck to you. Still Totally ADD
