The increasing WT magazine

"Number of placements" is only recorded on publisher record cards, which are never reviewed by the branch - only elders & COs.

And, due to the wide range of things it includes - from single sheet invites through to printed books - it's a virtually meaningless figure anyway now.

Of course it was done to cover up the decrease in magazine placements

Remeber tthey used to offer two pairs each month - ie four 32 page magazines each month - now they offer just one single 16 page magazine - even if you have the same number of 'interested' people to call on, that's still a 75% placement drop each month

I suspect it was also done to disincentivize publishers from placing too many printed magazines - a single page tract counts the same and is easier to leave with someone - and also to disincentivize them from placing too many - expensive to produce - printed books just so that it 'looks good' on their report card.

just so that it 'looks good' on their report card.

LOL - we have a nazi-wannabe service overseer who used to rant & rave about a "balanced ministry" - meaning placing not only magazines but also books & brochures. He would (literally!) produce pie-charts of every frickin' congregation member. If there were several "slices" visible - well and good, a balanced ministry. But if there was only one "big slice" and others were tiny or nonexistent -well, brother, you need to "balance out your ministry".

Not sure what he will work himself into a lather over now, though.

It could also be the total of printed, actual and/or estimated downloads.

Remember, the WT is not above fudging numbers.

If you don't believe me, look at a historical chart that shows the ups and downs of baptisms vs peak publishers.

Peak and average publishers does not deviate from a very smooth, predictable upward flow, whereas baptisms and even membership shows spikes, notable around 1970 to 1975 vs 1976 to 1980.

The digital placement figure is so meaningless that the only people who'll ever see it are the local elders and the CO. HQ have specifically asked for it not to be reported to branch. It stops the little lies being caught out when the grand tally of publisher reports is checked against actual online downloads.

The magazines are undated so could be used at any time in the future and how they look after them on the carts they could last for years, the carts around me are giving away books printed in 2006

    Hi canteave

    Bloody hard to burn them...

Except that looks like the 'Was Life Created?' brochure and NOT a recent Watchtower/Awake magazine.

I believe the 'Was Life Created?' brochure was/is printed on differerant paper that doesn't burn so easily by itself than the magazines.
