If they came clean it would be like the 'guards giving the prisoners the keys to the asylum and letting them free'.

They have to many projects and lawsuits going to remove the shackles from there captives, does not make good business sense. You do know it's a business don't you?

Today's Watchtower is officially founded on a group of people being established "in the last days." It's not easy to dump 1914. They are slowly doing it anyway.

Remember how God speaks about 120 years in Genesis 6:3?

1914 + 120 = 2034!!!

Don't you think Genesis 6:3 is a prophecy for our time?

Oh, and last but not least... it's perfectly compatible with the overlapping generation!

The WT has to go slowly in backing away from it's hair brained teachings and dates or risk losing it all. If you will notice, the WT hardly ever mentions 1914 or the "invisible presence" or 'types and anti-types' or how the "remnant will steadily decrease as the end nears".
Out of sight, out of mind is their motto as they move forward with busy work and changes to distract the rank and file from noticing their abandonment of previously held core doctrines!

Yeah, it does seem the Borg mentions ''invisible presence'' and 1914 less and less these days. Just more and more praise for the Governing Body, broadcasts and guilt-tripping for money.

The 1914 doctrine of the WTS was its core foundation doctrine all throughout the 20th century and is still held to this day.

Its was essentially the core doctrine which all over doctrines were created from. ie. " This Generation."

To eliminate it now and and say it was made from poor understanding or interpretation from the bible would a formidable challenge to make. One thing the WTS and its supporting leaders have been propagating for so many years is that the WTS/JWS was chosen by and is god's earthly arrangement.

Breaking apart from a doctrine that is firmly structured could potentially be damaging to that propagation as being the Chosen Organization.

The issue with 1914 is that it cant be just scrapped without destroying a large part of WT theology. It is crucial to remember that Jesus arrived and checked Christianity for fruit and find it among pack of prisoners charged in sedation in 1918. And than there was a heavenly wedding in 1919 and WT became a bride of Jesus. Plus everyone in WT that died until 1935 were part of the 144K.
