I don't want to overload him with apostasy, because i know once our family find out he's back in contact with me they'll claim I'm feeding him "apostate driven lies". Slowly slowly.

I agree with your point P E. Slowly is the way to go. Try to avoid leading him........ he is going through a serious adjustment. He will also have to face his family and if he can say he has made this decision on his own he will be on firmer ground. Perhaps he could say that he's taking a break for the next year....he's burn't out etc.

If he doesn't want to be DFed nor DA himself....... fading means he will need to avoid ranting against the JW beliefs and organization.

Having shared that with you allow me to say......holy shit what great news!

Your friendship and understanding will make a huge difference.

    Good news!

Glad he has you there for support. As you know, leaving the Cult is an emotional roller coaster and it sounds like he's already had some serious ups-and-downs. There will be more in the days/weeks/months ahead. Often it results in us losing everything (or almost everything) that we worked for and cherished -- friends, status, respect, etc. Now all those people who (conditionally) loved and respected him will treat him as "mentally diseased". Even though we may understand why they do it, there is no way to not feel hurt and rejected.

The greatest revenge is living a happy & successful life!

PE...that is fantastic news! I am so happy for you. Now you can re connect with your brother. I think that is the best news I've heard on here in a long time. You are right, not only are they running the rank in file into the ground but the most uber are leaving too. Wow!

I agree with your brother. My spouse and I feel so much better once we exited the cult. Our alcohol bill has subsided by a large number. Now...I enjoy my occasional drink, I don't need it to get through the meetings, assemblies, service, etc.

Keep us posted on his progress. I am over the moon happy for you both.

I rarely come on here now, I did today because I was bored during an exhibition. I read this post and had to leave a comment.......

FAN-BLOODY-TASTIC! I don't know you or your brother, but this news made me feel so delighted for you both. Make sure your brother knows things will keep on improving, life just gets better and better the further you move away from the cult.

  • nowwhat?

I've been following your story and after a very tough patch at the beginning, life for you continues to get better!

  • Lostandfound

Brilliant news, take care of him, as we know you will, his story is probably being repeated hundreds of times, honest hardworking witnesses who can take no more hectoring to do more, give more. You have given him excellent advice concerning what WILL happen as the org smells a poor soul, not to help but to seek to destroy.

    PE. This is great news.

I wonder if the video at last years regional assembly. You know the one stopping the young boy (Sergie?) from playing the violin had an effect on your Brother? Glad to hear is doing something he loves again! This gives us all hope for loved ones we have still in the org.

Yes we mentioned this! He's Sergei! We had a little laugh about it. He was in an orchestra a few years ago and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately he was pressured to give it up because it "may" mean him missing a few meetings. He'll probably get back into it now.
