Wait For It - "For those who are still in... What do you do about field service?"

@ wait for it.....why would you be d/f for not going door knocking? Just decline any offer to take you. And if the elders want to meet with you...just refer them to your husband..as you head. Let him take all the pressure...and if he wants to pass it on to you..well I,m sure you can think of ways to win him over.

Wait for it; you said "The only reason I'm even entertaining the thought of going is because of my kids. Getting DF or DAing, wouldn't bother me a bit, but it would restrict me from being around my kids when they are at gatherings and such."

No judging here, just relating where I'm at with all this obligation and guilt they try to instill in us. You need to do what works for you and your sanity. What works for me might not work for your circumstance or visa versa. I'm playing the offended brother card to the hilt.

I told the last couple of elders, that I had contact with "until Jehovah corrects the issues I will keep my distance so as not to create division in the congregation." Got to say it works they have pretty much back off and don't bother us much. We get the occasional, "need your time calls". But other than that, I avoid them like the plague.

My heart goes out to everyone who has to stay in so as to keep the family together, especially if that includes field service.

I don't think I could join in on someone's study, especially if I saw the householder buying into it and getting sucked into the borg. I think I'd feel an obligation to warn them off and that would create a lot more trouble than finding reasons not to go out at all.

First of all, the regular pioneers in my former congo employed all of WiFiBandit's methods, so now I'm wondering if any of them are actually awake!

Two years before I walked away I stated a "Bible Study" with a young married mother. I just couldn't in good conscience "teach" her from the Bible Teach book. I even went to the conductor of the TMS at the time and told him I just couldn't cause her the kind of pain I felt in raising children with an "unbelieving mate". The elder said, "Well, at least she would have Jehovah." and walked away. Fortunately, she got a job and couldn't meet with me any more. Sigh of relief.

I decided I needed a new plan. Doing "service" the way the pioneers did it was such a waste of time and gas money (mine), as I was always the one to drive, because I had a good "service car". I noticed that they were always harping on doing business territory to get it caught up before the C.O. came, so I made that my mission. Trust me, no one wants do do business territory, so you will be on your own.

Walk in the door, assess the situation, and walk out if they are too busy or just decide it's time for another coffee. Leave old mags in church doors for a laugh. If you are a female, you will be advised not to go to garages, because of all the porn hung up on the walls. I kid you not. This was a directive from the C.O. IMO, pretend business territory is the way to go! Worked for me!
