For those who are still in... What do you do about field service?

Maybe your mother in law wants to get you alone in service to flush out your doubts.

    Just a thought

I started faking about 7 or 8 years ago just a little before I started posting here. We lived in a rural area and I would take out a territory, go home and mark it worked for the tract campaign and count 3 or 4 hours.

The last year has been sporadic but no one seems to care. I go once in a while and when the group overseer asks for a report I give him one whether I've been out that month or not.

When i do go out I do my best to give a bad presentation. At some point I hope to stop going

You have to go in field circus? Try going only while the moon is void of course and/or Mercury is retrograde. The void of course moon will enhance the chances of not starting anything, and a Mercury retrograde increases the chance of someone screwing up communications and allowing you to accomplish nothing for the jokehovians. If possible, turning in the number 6 on your time slip will tie in with Saturn, resulting in bad luck for the organization. Even if you don't do 6 hours a month, turn in that number. It is not high enough to get assignments.

And, whatever you do, do NOT donate anything of value to the Worldwide Damnation Fund. You get money in the field because someone is stupid enough to waste it on the littera-trash or your partner pushes the issue, you simply "forget" to turn it in. Do not mention the donation arrangement, but if someone does donate, put that money aside and "forget" about it. Better that than having it used for damnation of the whole human race.

    What a farce!

Just stop faking it. In the case of the OP....what's the worst that can happen?

I put in a fake report each month. No one has said anything.

Reading this op made me realize what a sad existence we have been forced to live. I did this for awhile until my conscience got the best of me, I just can't go out and preach something I don't agree with. So I stopped going out in service, quit my bible study's and family worship. The more I discovered the more I detest even looking at their literature. Just makes me sick to think, what my life could of been if it wasn't for the Watchtower. So I wont propagate this lifestyle or mental manipulation onto anyone else. I've reported and donated goose eggs for almost 3 years now. So i'm inactive, bad association and spiritually least I have my sanity.

MarkofCane--i reached that point when i was aged 23. but i rarely attended for the next 10 years--and only then if my born in wife went into full on nag mode. but--then we divorced--and ive been totally free ever since.

    i'm 68 now !

I feel your y'all. I understand there are circumstances where stepping away just isn't an option.

    Thanks Stan

Its nice to know many feel your pain and know where you are coming from, this community has help me so much. In a couple of week I will need to go to the convention and try not to show my true self. Kind of, like the movie "Invasion of the body snatchers" where they all turn around, scream and point "apostate!"

@Millie20, that's a good idea. I could just go on one of her bible studies. I'll try that if she asks again.

@hoser, I don't think that's the case. She doesn't know I have doubts, but I've always been a low hour publisher and she's always been trying to encourage me to increase my time. I think this mainly stems from wanting her son to have more responsibilities in the cong and that can't happen with a "spiritually weak" wife.
@stan livedead, the worst that can happen: they influence my spouse in some way which would cause more tension in my marriage. Or they could mention something to my elders which could lead to a JC down the line. I'm not too worried that would happen, but I like to think of all possible scenarios.
@MarkofCane, it is a very sad situation to be in. I feel sick just thinking about going to meetings. I haven't been out in service in months and I'd prefer to keep it like that.
The only reason I'm even entertaining the thought of going is because of my kids. Getting DF or DAing, wouldn't bother me a bit, but it would restrict me from being around my kids when they are at gatherings and such. We have a large cong and many from other cong are invited to those events. My husband is a good dad, but too trusting and buys into the whole insta-friends concept. So until something changes, I'll have to stick it out for a bit.
