A friend of mine called last night we will call him tom. HE is Df now for 2 yrs for associating with a a Df person non relative. Anyway he arrived at the meeting this week and was informed by 3 elders that he was no longer welcomed at the hall.apparently he was caught greeting someone in the parking lot after meeting. So they said if he shows up again they will put restraining order on him can they legally do that?
Barred from entering kh
Yes, they legally can do that. They will just have to revoke the implied invitation then the person would be trespassing on private property.
Come to the "house of jehober" ----unless you are a sinner!
However it sound like you didn't get the whole story!
HE is Df now for 2 yrs for associating with a a Df person non relative.
do you mean "associating " in the horizontal sense ?
There must be more to this in order to threaten him with a trespass.
Anyway he arrived at the meeting this week ..
Very unusual move by the elders. I suspect there is a bit more to it.
poopie - different countries have different laws, but as I understand it the underlying principle is:
Although open to the public, a church is private property.
If a person causes a disturbance then the person's 'implied invitation' to attend the church service can be revoked.
You could also be asked to leave / removed if you simply looked a bit scuffy - even shops have dress-codes, and they will ask you to leave if you do not abide by them.
Additionally as an interesting side issue - in the UK there is currently some debate going on about POPS - that's Privately Owned Public Spaces:
Tell him no worries.
The org's policy of treating people like dirt is coming back to bite them, in the form of empty KHs lol.
Yeah, there's something not right about this story.
Jp - hmm... what could that something be? I call it poopie shorthand.
I tried to query the lack of info once but everyone thought I was being mean to poopie. So now I just go with it and try to guess what the missing info is. I call that translating poopie's dubious shorthand.
