I love math, I love calendars, and somehow, this always gets me.

2520 - 607 = 1913

Not 1914.

2520 - 606 = 1914

From what I understand, Russell realized this. He had previously used 606 BC, of course, but then he switched it to 607 BC. I know there was something about no zero year, so it actually should be less one, correct?

2520 - 607 - 1 = 1912

???

Okay, so 2520 years after NOTHING HAPPENED, the Titanic sank. *shrug*

Am I wrong here? What am I missing? If anything else, let's explain it for posterity.

Actually, it depends on the time of day (or night) you make the calculations.

I have come up with the following dates which, funnily enough, have all been important at one time or another in the organization:

1799,

1874

1914

1918

1919

1925

1936

1975.

Yep and all the marvelous reasoning used by the wtbts about 7 (years) x 360 (days in a Jewish month) = 2,520 years except that in the supposed fulfillment of that mathematical bible prophecy, it's pretty f**king amazing that they use the Jewish calendar for the calculation and the Julian calendar for the fulfillment. Big difference of 37.5 years! But, by applying the wtbts 'math-magic' formula of "it don't matter in this case"= we must be right because god chose us, then you have the magical number that you want 1914 plus or minus 37.5 years. See how easy it is to understand the bible!

@steve2, how about this. 1914 was a year of the Tiger in the Chinese calendar. So were 1974 ("Stay alive till 75!"), 1986 ("Peace and security!"), and 2010 ("Overlapping generations? Wth?").

The whole year zero is real. That is why the millennium was actually 2001 and not 2000. Whole numbers start at 1 so 2000 from year 1 is 2001

That's their simplified math. But really, work back from whatever date you want and you can come up with whatever Bible math rule you want to create a cult date of significance. Look at 1975. All fuzzy math from the Bible and cult people applying it anyway that suits them. I find it hard to believe they forgot at one point that there was no year ZERO. It's almost like they don't really have "spirit-direction" and are just making shit up.

@OnTheWayOut, and as I pointed out in the other thread to "the-question" about 607 BC, the 2520 years is entirely astrological, which makes their demonization of astrology quite duplicitous.
