I suggest the big stones from heaven had the same size as the stones the soldiers of Gondor catapulted against the orcs.. Try defending yourself with shield formations against those. It seems the atheist add the absence of shields and it seems unlikely that your regular hailstones would be considered something to write home about

The bible is full of ancient (fictional) mythological expressions, starting from the first book of Genesis right to the last book of Revelation.

This was done so to create power and relevance to a civilization's (Hebrews followed by Christians) gods of which they specifically worshiped, similar to other ancient civilizations.

It also offered needed explanation of the world in which they lived for there was little knowledge or information of that.

Human ignorance is a indefensible fact.

Perhaps they were not wearing government-approved helmets.

I am sure whoever wrote these stories knew of shields. You have to make up the idea that they knew not or had forgot. After all, we got so much smarter since 1922 or 1968.

With jehober fighting for and protecting the Israelites plus all the natural elements, like hail stones, etc., at their disposal, why the f*ck did they need nearly a million man army? lol

Also, why would it take six years of warfare if Jehovah helped the Israelites with huge hailstones, making the sun stand still and angels at his disposal?

    13. Mop-up operations are climaxed by the slaying of the five kings, at which time Joshua says to his commanders: “Do not be afraid or be terrified. Be courageous and strong, for it is like this that Jehovah will do to all your enemies against whom you are warring.” This has already proved to be true with regard to seven kings of Canaan, and it continues to be true as another complete number of 24 kingdoms are overthrown. Then only, after six years of warfare, does the land have rest.—Joshua 10:16-25; 12:7-24.

Before long, five Canaanite kings and their armies threatened the Gibeonites. Joshua and his army marched all night long to rescue them. The fighting started early the next morning. The Canaanites began fleeing in all directions. Everywhere they ran Jehovah hurled huge hailstones down on them. Then Joshua asked Jehovah to make the sun stand still. Why would he ask Jehovah to do that when the sun had never stood still before? Because Joshua trusted in Jehovah. The sun did not set for a whole day until the Israelites had conquered the Canaanite kings and their armies.

ummmm thats some good bullshit , but you can see how the Hebrews purposefully tried to connect themselves with the great creator Yahweh as their chosen people.

Why did he need an army period and why did he need to send stones flying from heaven? Was he just having a little fun with the Amorites? After all, in Egypt he had a single angel do all the necessary killing in one night.
