    Punk:

Yes, the overlapping generation is among the silliest they've pulled. Crazy as it sounds, it totally went over my head at the time. I read it and accepted it without question, but I didn't stop for a second to think about it.

Oddly I was such an asleep PIMI JW. It wasnt until I started visiting apostate web sites that I fully comprehended what the overlapping generation was all about.

One of the best strings of posts that I've read here since hooking up with you wonderful folks.

For me, it was when it became apparent there was no Holy Spirit/Hocus Pocus direction on the religion. I had really believed all that.

But when an Elder lied his way out of charges of embezzlement (that I knew to be true) and his pornography addiction, despite 2 or more witnesses to it, my eyes were opened. He was a shaker and mover with the Big Dogs -- COs, DOs and esp the prominent Elders in the area. He got a pass on it all. Didn't even lose (or resign) his positions.

Then came to realize it was not an uncommon story. An Elder appointed and assigned a multitude of "privileges" (talks, LDC etc) while carrying on an 8-year affair with a woman at work.

An Elder who was having an affair for a year, but was assigned one of the keynote talks on the Dist Conv. He saw the assignment as an indication that his plan to leave his wife for the mistress was "approved" by the Holy Spirit selection of him as the Dist Conv speaker. So he waited until AFTER giving the talk to resign and "confess" convinced that he would only be reproved or at worse, be "out" for a short time.

Such stories like these would fill volumes.

No Holy Spirit means it's nothing but the ideas of sincere men or perhaps even insincere men.

    Welcome

Having had for personal and professional reasons the opportunity during four decades to attend several congregations in different languages and in different countries (Europe and Asia) has allowed me to better realize the very high level of hypocrisy, brainwashing and rampant machismo of almost all the elders (and those more up in the JW.ORG pyramid), what I guess would have been much more difficult to realize if I had attended only one congregation in only one country for example. After such an experience dissociation was a must for me and the only solution to regain my self-esteem, my joy in life and my respect for the Allmighty God and my neighbours !!!.

It's very rarely just one thing for anyone,... more like a growing pile of little things that gradually outweigh the other side.

I had more and more niggling little issues and doubts the older I got, but in retrospect, I think my point-of-no-return was probably the moment I realized evolution had to be true, and that the Org could never budge on it.
