I was a new elder and eager to police, control, spiritually kill, love, shepherd, get some district convention parts under my belt, ect...

My point in the OP was that this single ridiculous JW policing event was that: we will destroy innocent people over "strong circumstantial evidence" but will protect child molesters over strong circumstantial evidence. These 2 contrasting acts produced an ultimate hypocrisy that assisted in waking me up and saving my life and that of my family.

Strong Circumstantial Evidence of Sexual Immorality (Porneia): If at least two eyewitnesses report that the accused stayed all night in the same house with a person of the opposite sex (or with a known homosexual) under improper circumstances, judicial action may be warranted. (w18.07 p. 32)

If I had been the target of this type of stalking by anybody in a parked car, I would’ve called the cops and reported two suspicious characters..The idiots would’ve had to explain themselves to the police!

I find your story interesting. When you were associated and had all the users over your house on a regular basis eating your food, etc., all was well..Then, when you became inactive you were the target of hostility and an onslaught of uninvited visits.

I’m of the opinion that they are especially angry at the loss of Witnesses who did favors, gave alot and entertained!..They never chased me because I had their ‘number’...but if somebody is like you or provides freebies for the users - ooops I meant brothers/sisters in the hall (like fixing cars, etc.) they are especially missed. They consider you the loss of a material asset!!

If I had elders staking out my house and knew it, I’m sure I’d have had fun with it. I think of Beverly Hills Cop and the banana in the tailpipe. Or sneaking up and removing the stems from a tire or two (or at least loosening them for a slow drain). Imagine them in the morning as neighbors are getting up, going to work. While these strangers to the neighborhood are changing a tire. Or a tow truck is hooking up to their car.

The posts here take me back. I have seen so much of this having grown up with a high control elder father who delighted in intrigues and spying.

I wonder what makes this so prevalent among JWs?

I guess it is never good to tell someone they are a stand-in for God.

The world is littered with JW's and former JW's whose lives and family lineage was ruined or forever altered at the hands of "unlettered and ordinary" Janitors, Carpenters and Window Washers masquerading as Bible Theologians and playing detective because they given the authority to deal with complex matters that even trained professionals wouldn't dare to handle on their own.

There was a teenager in my congregation who in hindsight was exhibiting signs of schizophrenia. Two elders were dispatched to investigate. They determined he was under the influence of spiritism because he would hear voices telling him to kill his mother.

These two elders, one a construction worker and the other a low-level municipal employee who was illiterate until he became a JW, prayed with the family and helped them conduct a spring cleaning where they threw away any items purchased second hand at garage sales and the like.

I lost touch with that family a few years afterward, so I don't know what ever became of that kid. Needless to say, it could have very easily resulted in a tragic ending. No professionals were ever engaged to my knowledge.

Between my wife in the medical field and myself a pilot, we always have these stashed here and there.

Comes in handy for JW suspected perp steakouts as well if bushes in the dark aren't available. Perhaps they should be stocked in the locking elder file cabinet?
