Pretty much anything I liked was considered BAD! I loved punk and rap and my parents hated both. I had to hide all my tapes from them. If only they knew that I had 2 Live Crew, the Beastie Boys and Dead Kennedys stored under my bed they would've fainted! LOL! But that's what they get for giving me nightmares about Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust" and my uncles KISS poster! The funny think now is my mom loves Green Day, Dead Kennedy's and System of a Down. I think it may be the menopause...LOL! ~Aztec

    Eels - Jehovahs Witness

Absolutely love the song, cant find the lyrics but he says something along the lines of:

Jehovahs Witness leave me alone, Jehovahs Witness I'm not at home, you come knocking at my door like you are my friend.

    So Cool !

Also Alison Moyet I think it was, apparantly held a concert in London and asked all the Jehovahs Witnesses to leave as she couldnt connect to the devil - probably another one of the we are so powerfull JW's stories - funny how it werent in the press.

My mom wouldn't let us listen to the Beatles. Also forbidden when their TV shows came on:

    Paul Revere and the Raiders

    The Monkeys

    The King Sisters

    Elvis

    Chubby Checker

    John Denver

    Engelbert Humperdink

    Tom Jones

and she told me that she listened to Frank Sinatra as a girl, but wasn't supposed to.

How could anyone forget Kiss? I never did fancy them, but the brothers were fear struck, especially re-inforced by the urban myth? that Kiss really stood for -

    KNIGHTS IN SATANS SERVICE.

Thats interesting. I always thought it stood for knights in satans system?

    Crucify

Every finger in the room is pointing at me
I wanna spit in their faces
Then I get affraid what that could bring
I got a bowling ball in my stomach
I got a desert in my mouth
Figures that my COURAGE would choose to sell out now.

I've been looking for a savior in these dirty streets
Looking for a savior beneath these dirty sheets
I've been raising up my hands
    Drive another nail in
    Just what GOD needs
    One more victim

    Why do we crucify ourselves
    Every day I crucify myself
Nothing I do is good enough for you
    Crucify myself
    Every day I crucify myself
And my HEART is sick of being in chains

Got a kick for a dog beggin' for LOVE
    I gotta have my suffering
So that I can have my cross
I know a cat named Easter
He says will you ever learn
You're just an empty cage girl if you kill the brid

I've been looking for a savior in these dirty streets
Looking for a savior beneath these dirty sheets
I've been raising up my hands
    Drive another nail in
    Got enough GUILT to start
    My own religion

    Why do we crucify ourselves
    Every day I crucify myself
Nothing I do is good enough for you
    Crucify myself
    Every day I crucify myself
And my HEART is sick of being in chains

    Please be
    Save me
    I CRY

Looking for a savior in these dirty streets
Looking for a savior beneath these dirty sheets
I've been raising up my hands
    Drive another nail in
    Where are those angels
    When you need them

    Why do we crucify ourselves
    Every day I crucify myself
Nothing I do is good enough for you
    Crucify myself
    Every day I crucify myself
And my HEART is sick of being in chains

    Why do we change (chains?)
    Crucify ourselves
    Everyday

    Never going back again
    Crucify myself again
    You know
    Never going back again to
    Crucify myself
    Everyday

Ok so maybe the old time JW Urban Myth was that Earth Wind and Fire asked JW's to leave their concert, but when I was a youngin it was rumored around the hall that at Green Day concerts they would ask, "Are there any Jehovahs Witnesses here? Cuz if they are, we're gonna kick their asses!"...or so the story went... (I am so sure Green Day cared about JW's)

I remember Led Zepplin was verboten because of the logo of a naked angel falling from heaven

And I remember my parents got SO PISSED when they found that my sister had a Twisted Sister tape.

I had no idea who they were when I was five, but I constantly had to talk about Twisted Sister to get a rise out of her...lol

I mean honestly...why would JW parents object to these fine looking fellows...heh heh!

It's one more example, and a very good one, of how the jws get so carried away by things they perceive as threats. My god, do Guns N Roses even matter any more? Same with most of this stuff. Groups become popular, then the winds of popularity shift. So when we look back, it's "what was all the fuss about?" by the jws.

Heck, parents thought Elvis was a big threat. And the Beatles. There's always some "threat" out there, looking to destroy the spirituality of jw youth.

Hello, I'm new around here, I'm baptized, but I decided not to go to the meetings anymore, since this February. I stumbled to this website, looks interesting.

Well I don't know any of those music groups mentioned here, I'm 19, hehehe, so the song that I think they would be pissed off would be, one of my favorites.

    BAD RELIGION by GODSMACK

[Preacher:] The word of God says that we will recieve
praise of God. God will begin to speak forth, our
richiusness is of him, sayith the Lord

    [Godsmack:] Get back !!

Can you feel Im not like you anymore.
    I cant see,
    I cant breathe.
See you quiver like the dogs on the street,
Looking down on as I beat you.
    Oh, its a bad religion,
    From a broken nation.
    Its a contradiction,
And I cant take it anymore, yeah.
Whos ta say I wont like you anyway?
    Take a deep breath,
    Im alive.
    Can you hear me,
    Im alive inside you.
    Agony creeps up behind you.
Oh, Its a bad religion (Bad religion)
From a broken nation (A broken nation)
    Its a contradiction,
And I cant take it any fucking more
Its a bad religion (bad religion, bad religion, bad religion)
From a broken nation (Broken nation)
    Its a contradiction.
    Yeah.
    Can you feel it?
I gotta live with it everyday
And I cant take the pressure.
    Im going insane,
    Now go away

    Go away

[Preacher:] Now you start praising God where ever you
are. I dont care where you are, I dont care what is
happening, just begin to praise God, just begin to
praise him and praise him and praise him and praise
him and worship him, and bless him...

    Hello No mad soul,

You're not the reason I came here, but by the way -

Welcome to the birthplace of Apostasy.

Exercise caution - the brothers are watching, and most likely heading to your house as I write. There is much to be learned here, but it's not for the weak-willed or faint-hearted.

The reason I returned to this thread - upon re-thinking, the WTS cautioned us against any music that wasn't on those pathetic Kingdom Melodies tapes.

Does anyone else remember them and do the JWs still have such rubbish? It used to make me cringe.

let cheeses guide you one mad soul
