I would argue that the GB know exactly what they're doing when they tell the R&F not to look at anything but stuff from them.
It's an effective way of pruning down all but the most loyal, obedient members, which - IMO - is their long-term (and maybe not-so-long-term) goal as part of the current corporate downsizing.
I could be wrong.

Vidiot, I think you're right. What else could it be than damage control and the less of two evils? They lost the battle for the young ones and they know it. They don't care for hours, visitors etc. They can manipulate those numbers easily. Cart witnessing and counting video's are easy replacements to compensate for the decline of hard hours door-to-door and physical magazines. We also know it's no coincidence what happened with the yearbook!
But the money, oh yes, that's what they're REALLY after. The older jw generations are still expected to $eek the kingdom fir$t and the GB must be desperately longing to keep enough loyal members with enough savings but also enough fear and/or technophobia to avoid TTATT through Google Almighty.

The thing I can't get, is why not just address the issues in an honest and frank manner. Instead of blaming satan, apostates, imperfect individuals, just take on a bit of responsibiliy and accountability. Even with the world wide church of God when they come clean with their members. It cost them in terms of membership, and money, but you certainly have to respect them for what they did. Wt can learn a few things from these people.
