Aren't we lucky to have many roads to recovery? You take the low road and I'll take the high road, while others will take the middle road and we'll ALL meet at the other end. Good post. Remember the Kingdom song 'Move Ahead?' good advice.

hi onacruse!!!! everyone is different,,,situation wise,,emotionally,,,spiritually,,ect ect...i think any progress towards change or happiness,,,weather it be with baby steps or large leaps and bounds is getting on with life...as long as it isn't stagnet,,

i am proud to say that i am taking baby steps,,,,but as small as these steps are,,,i am getting stronger and healthier mentally...it has been alot...but in my own way,,it is has been the right course for me...

each person walks a different path forward,,,,yet,,,all hoping for the same goal....

I do think we need to move in a forward position in life, no doubt. For some it will take longer, but to stew over what happened in the past long term, or to allow it to overtake our daily lives, will keep us from progressing forward.

The bottom line though, I agree, is to move on, and get over it. A song that comes to mind is off of a recent Eagles c/d, called Get Over It. It really does make sense.

    I love the Eagles!

    Get Over it

    Eagles

From the album Hell Freezes Over (1994) I turn on the tube and what do I see A whole lotta people cryin' 'Don't blame me' They point their crooked little fingers ar everybody else Spend all their time feelin' sorry for themselves Victim of this, victim of that Your momma's too thin; your daddy's too fat Get over it Get over it All this whinin' and cryin' and pitchin' a fit Get over it, get over it You say you haven't been the same since you had your little crash But you might feel better if I gave you some cash The more I think about it, Old Billy was right Let's kill all the lawyers, kill 'em tonight You don't want to work, you want to live like a king But the big, bad world doesn't owe you a thing Get over it Get over it If you don't want to play, then you might as well split Get over it, Get over it It's like going to confession every time I hear you speak You're makin' the most of your losin' streak Some call it sick, but I call it weak You drag it around like a ball and chain You wallow in the guilt; you wallow in the pain You wave it like a flag, you wear it like a crown Got your mind in the gutter, bringin' everybody down Complain about the present and blame it on the past I'd like to find your inner child and kick its little ass Get over it Get over it All this bitchin' and moanin' and pitchin' a fit Get over it, get over it Get over it Get over it It's gotta stop sometime, so why don't you quit Get over it, get over it

I was rasied in it, and started my fade at the age of 22. Fortunately, my new bride faded with me, and that helped a lot. One thing I did was to stay very busy. I worked full time and filled up my remaining time with college course work. I simply did not have time to think about the past very much. When they finally got around to wanting me to meet with the elders, I was about to move out of town to a new job. They never did follow up, so I was left alone after that. So, I would recommend busy activities as a way to move on, whether it is fixing up your house or going to college, it is all good therapy. You both keep your mind busy, and you see something accompished. Also, activities often puts you in touch with other people who can become new friends. That helps too.
