Cha Ching.......This is my Brother (in real life) and his story and experiences are very real and were very traumatic. I'm personally just grateful that he did not allow people or an organization/religion to destroy his faith in God. He has used his experiences to lead him to the real truth of Christ. The truth isn't the truth just because you call it The Truth. However the Truth of God can never be disputed. When you get it for yourself, nobody can take it away.

    Awesome!

Nice to meet you XWallkillBethethelitesSis! Welcome!

I am so glad to hear he survived, and that he has you for support! It's totally wrong for good people to have to try to sort thru this "cognitive dissonance" or "ambient abuse" or "gaslighting"... where not only do you have no money, but where is your support system that you use to think the most of? Where did it go? Your 'brothers that you would die for'? Gone in a flash.....

I have met many people with different experiences, but they have the same type of feelings of disappointment and confusion as to 'what in the world is happening? this is suppose to be God's organization?'

I met all kinds of nice people, empathetic, warm, loving, caring people in S Lake Tahoe at the Apostafest! I think all the caring people have to leave, they can't take the hypocrisy. Caring people won't defend what is wrong, caring people have a need to support truth... real truth. Your comment reminded me of a saying on one of my husband's T-shirts:

    "Don't believe everything you hear"

    "Real Eyes"

    "Realize"

    "Real Lies"

May I ask, how did you find this thread? ... again, Welcome!

A lot of companies when they lay off someone for what ever reason escort them to a meeting when they are given the news that they no longer have a job and then escort them to get their belongings so as not to have a negative impact on the other workers, in effect they get them to leave as quietly as possible. I think the WT corporation may not have been able to convict him of any wrong doing but may have herd some hear say about him that caused them to get rid of him fast without any notice(maybe just could have been a wrong comment to someone that ran to some bethel overseer to squeal on him) after all I think they are kind of spooked about any type of bad attitude developing among the rank and file slave labor so even hear say without due process of a kangaroo court may have been seen to be their best alternative.

"It disgusts me on how cheap Bethel is. This was 20 years ago, but when I was there as a temporary construction worker I got sick with a bad cold. I went to a little pharmacy place they had at Bethel to get some cold medicine. I got there and they said to get 2 cold pills it would cost $.25, yes that's really cheap, but I didn't have any money on me and they refused to give it to me if I didn't pay for it. I was so distraught. Here I was a pioneer, MS, just spent hundreds of dollars to fly to NY on my own, the day before I donated $5 at one of their recreation room donation boxes to play some pool, and here they wouldn't help me when I was very ill just because I didn't have a damn quarter! UGH!" - CleanIdeas

Gobsmacked! What on earth happened to "keep on seeking the kingdom first and its righteousness, and all these other things will be added to you?"

I would have thought that going to Bethel was "putting the Kingdom first." "Keep on seeking the kingdom first" must be just a platitude.

Thank you for the warm welcome.

My brother was already familiar with the site. Someone told him they saw his video on your thread so he called and told me about it. I had to come check it out. :)

Although we were both raised JW we had different religious experiences and exposures. I "fell from Grace" several years before his experience but my mind was still conformed to the religion. It took his situation to really open my eyes and I shared a great deal in his pain along with my own. We were actually a support to each other and having each other's support also helped with the healing. We are much stronger now both spiritually and mentally.

"Keep on seeking first the kingdom..."

I feel scarred that I read that and for the rest of the day that damned maladies song is stuck in my head - now that's indoctrination at its best! Anyone else with me on that??

FISHERPERSON - I would consider credible some of your sentiment only I keep coming back to the 100 sheep /99 sheep parable. If 1 sheep is lost, Jesus point was that he would take the time to find and care for that 1 sheep at it was just as valuable as the 99. So how much more so should Bethel (God's organizational kingpin distribution centre on earth) demonstrate that same caring attitude to all persons who have given their time voluntarily - irrespective of the circumstances of their departure. I just struggle with the principles that should be the foundation for all org dealings that are underpinned by love, compassion and FOLLOWING THE EXAMPLE OF CHRIST when I see no correlation here. The rest as was stated in another comment is just semantics. I keep coming back to the core Christian principal of love.

I wish all persons who have experienced this trauma the very best and healthy recovery.
