    Way more often than not, prosyletizers are trying to shore up their own beliefs.

    Converting others comes in a distant second (although it helps in the shoring-up process).

    Theists..especially ' born agains ' who claim to have had a personal and sometimes physical manifestation of christ or his presence imo are coming from a psychotic state of mind.

    This brings into perspective the workings of the human brain and the reasons why it can so easily be duped.

    The fact that o.p. poses such a question is a symptom of this condition.

    I for one hope that the quicker they return to reality they will enjoy a better fulfilled life.

    Many of us are testament to this.
