Can you get porn on a ROKU?

I don't know about regular porn. But you can get Netflix on Roku and there's a few (or used to be) movies with some hardcore scenes. Try Antichrist with Willem Dafoe. Has some explicit stuff, but it'll probably gross you out more than titilate if you watch more than the first 5 minutes.

My parents are TV addicts. They have that blasting all the time, even when they are doing other things. Well, with the new Dub TV and help from Roku, they can have that going ALL the time. It permeated everything…it was hard to think through it. It was constantly going, constantly streaming.

That really sucks. I know they have their videos, but it's a little amount of forethought to pick the DVD, put in, play it. When it's done, you have to change to another. It's so much easier if they have a channel you can just turn on and let it stream. Program after program, hour after hour.

I used to think that now that they cut down on the number of meetings, maybe some of the hold would deteriorate. But now it sounds like they can get it non-stop. Like attending meetings every night of the week?

Is their programming on a loop? Is it limited to the recruiting types of materials? Or do they have the non-public talk stuff on there too?

A bit like the "parlor walls" in Fahrenheit 451.

"My wife says books aren't 'real.'"

"Thank God for that. You can shut them, say, 'Hold on a moment.' You play God to it. But who has ever torn himself from the claw that encloses you when you drop a seed in a TV parlor? It grows you any shape it wishes! It is an environment as real as the world. It becomes and is the truth. Books can be beaten down with reason. But with all my knowledge and skepticism, I have never been able to argue with a one-hundred-piece symphony orchestra, full colour, three dimensions, and I being in and part of those incredible parlors. As you see, my parlour is nothing but four plaster walls. And here " He held out two small rubber plugs. "For my ears when I ride the subway-jets."

Old-school JWs were readers. Of course, what they were reading was nonsense, but it was deep nonsense. It took some time to digest all the material they had to read. These people were more apt to give a courageous defense of their doctrines.

New-school JWs are not readers. Since 2000, the publications have been more fluffy and lite as time goes by. The public Watchtower and Awake are pretty flimsy. Modern JWs cannot defend their beliefs and the go-to strategy is to run.

A picture is worth a thousand words, as the saying goes. A multimedia presentation is more effective. Much of the content of Dub TV is emotional. The music, especially, is designed to tug at heartstrings. It could be that this Dub TV will be effective at keeping hardcore JWs in.

I could not agree more, Londo. Sister Blues was lamenting today the lack of depth in the lit these days. A case in point is "new light" on the two Witnesses of Revelation. In days of old that would have had a study article, even a chapter in a book explaining all the why's & wherefores. This is just one page making a statement that the accept on face value , without thought - like the sheep in Orwells "Animal Farm" She went out and bought a Roku of course when the tv station started, hardly viewed it since though.

Last night's meeting was more of a computer user group meeting. Why do they always assign the tech. items to elders who are proud not to even own a smartphone? All the Service Meeting was about website, apps and using your tablet in the Ministry. Afterward there was a long chat about such things and downloads and the K.H wi fi

it was a lot easier when they just printed magazines

again how do i get content from my laptop to tv?

Your laptop's video output. I used HDMI, personally.

Yes. There's not a whole lot of difference between a modern television and a monitor.

Lots of televisions have VGA input ports now.

Lots of laptops and desktop video cards have HDMI output ports

HDMI to DVI adaptors are not expensive and can be purchased at Amazon and other places

So connecting a PC or other digital device to a television is pretty easy anymore.
