Trust in federal gov at record lows, even worse than Watergate. Approval of Congress at all time lows. Approval of Supreme Court at record lows.

In any 3rd world country, the above would mean a revolution is about to happen. In the US, we'll see - but the mainstream media keeps ignoring the severity of this crisis in favor of distractions.

metatron, if you want to know why revolutions happend, I recommend a great book "The Anatomy of Revolution" by Crane Brinton. USA is not 3rd world country were masses are awaiting for leader who is daddy Stalin, Pol Pot, Hussein, or Tito. Anglosaxon mentality of independence, self reliance, and democracy is strong, and combine it with high living standard that majority in the world cannot dream to achieve it. American middle class is wealthy, wealthier than European counterpars. It is shrinking, and there is tons of problems with the middle class in USA, but it is unachievable for most Europenans. I been in EVERY European country from Scottland to Greece and from Spain to Finland. I was born to middle class family in Europe, yet, only 10-15% of Europeans have American middle class living in suburbia. Europe has better Interstate and railways, but they have horrible state and county roads, even in rich countries like Austria and Germany. I drove through California in Central Valley, along the coast on Rt 1 or through the Sonora desert, and the roads are excellent. Try taking roads between Vienna and Gmund, or between Passau and Regensbug, and compare the quality betwen CA and wealthiest region in Europe. California would win, even when German countryside is much cleaner.

USA is not finnished. It will be here for a while. It wont be here forever, as no country last forever. Even Roman Empire and British empire disintegrated. But it is premature to see and expect death of America (which is wish of many anti-americans world-wide) in our lifetime. It wont happen.

If you want to disapprove Daniel's nonsense used by WT:

    1. World is complicated place, and there are always winners and losers. Current word is moving toward large block on global scale immitating European gameplan of domination and balance checks known as quadruple alliance (France, Russia, Britain, Prussia/Austria). Today we have USA, EU, China, and Russia, nothing more or less. The quadruple alliance lived for 200 years
    2. "world will be less driven by Western Elites towards war". Millions of Chinese would disagree when they witnessed their country being attacked and occupied by Japan. Mongols conquered most of Asia and Middle Eaast and killed millions of people. Ottomans did the same. Timur killed millions from Syria to India and from Tien-shen to Russia.

Who said the US was going to collapse? That's nonsense.

It's US hegemony that's dying off and the world will be better off without it. For once, the US will actually have to obey international law and stop talking about "exceptionalism".

They made a total train wreck out of Iraq and Libya. Afghanistan is a mess - that feeds improved opium/heroin crops to the world. The Ukraine was on its way to peacefully solving its internal problems - as Europe proposed - until the US got involved (remember the US ambassador who said "F**k the EU"?)

The world will be better, not worse without the US as global policeman.

Now there is something us Americans will agree with most likely. Most of us think we should have kept our kids at home and let the towel-heads fight it out amongst themselves like they have for 1000s of years. How foolish of us to think that they rest of the world would want to improve their standard of living.

Of course, there is all that OIL. And somebody has to burn it, so it might as well be us. And since the price of gasoline is dropping (actually saw $3.05 /US gal this week) we'll probably keep buying those bigass cars and trucks.

The world will be better, not worse without the US as global policeman.

I suspect most Americans would like that idea as well. Unfortunately our politicians have been bought and sold by the Halburtons, Lockheeds, etc of the world and they can't sell more weapons until the stockpile is used up. If we continue to use them in our cities, like Ferguson, maybe we won't have to go shooting up other places around the globe.

Most of us middle-class Americans are content to live peacefully and quietly in our comfortable 2-story homes with 3-car garages (which are not big enough for all the cars we and the kids have), spend weekends driving the convertible to the country house or the golf course, or pulling the boat with the gas-guzzling SUV to the lake, grilling rare steaks on the gas grill and simply let the rest of the world piss-off and solve their own problems. Kindly try not to f**k up the places we like to travel to for vacations -- Cancun and Cabo (you can loot & kill along the border, just don't mess with the tourist destinations); Jamaica; Costa Rica; Aruba or else we'll have to spend our time & money touring the US sites -- which are REALLY dangerous!

Thanks for clearing that up. Here I though the problem was Putin taking Crimea and the Russian Army massing at the Ukraine border.

I forget where I heard it, but the idea of inevitable decline of empires is as old as Plato. It does not necessarily play out that way.

You're welcome - as to clearing that up!

It's called "poke the bear" and there are plenty of foreign policy experts who have testified as to the US wrecking things in the Ukraine. Putin was forced into action that he didn't want.

There was a "Gentleman's Agreement" given to Gorbachev from Reagan NOT to push NATO up against Russian borders - creating a threat. The US ignored that to create chaos so as to keep a hold on its European vassal states. Russia lost 26 million people in WW2 (and don't forget Napoleon!)

And the result? As the Ambassador said "F**k the EU" - and that's exactly where things ended up with sanctions and counter-sanctions amidst European weakness.

And none of it had to happen, if the US had left Europe to negotiate the matter peacefully. And Russia would still be paying rent for Crimea. And the original idea to allow some autonomy in the Donbass would have saved lives.

Remember this, if they lied about Iraq........

RRRRight.....the U.S. forced Putin to do this. He's a good Russian boy who would never do anything like this unless the Americans forced him to do it. LOL
