When I decided to no longer turn in time...

Interesting, the one 'brother' says the GB allows people in certain circumstances to only turn in 15 minutes of time...nice to know that the GB are the ones who get to DECIDE who qualify for those 15 minutes. The single parent juggling a job, a home, child care and spiritual duties are exempt from those circumstances...

Congrats SG098! Good for you! Good job on the recording, and also handling the barrage of "direction from mother" via the elders....

I think recordings like this one helps people to see how world wide the propaganda techniques actually are. It is just not in "your congregation." They all say the same things... but for ME, alive a lot longer than you, I don't remember elders talking in the "mother" terms, or "we don't want to disappoint/ go against Christ's brothers" type of comments. This is all pretty recent, it seems to have been stepped up in the last ten/ fifteen years? or so...

The magic questions/ stataements that seem to always come up as of late... "Do you believe this is God's organization?" or "Have you been online reading something?" "This doesn't sound like something you would think of yourself" They don't believe people can actually have a brain or a conscience of their own.

When I was still "in", I auxillary pioneered, but asked my name to not be announced. I did not want people 'congratulating' me for signing a paper. I always thought, "why do I have to sign up to go out door to door for so many hours?" Well, if you auxillary pioneer during the CO's visit, you get to go to the first half of the pioneer meeting....

Titles, announcements, 'privileges', can motivate people to do many things that they wouldn't otherwise, but should, if they are really interested in the people. (Like you, you should not have to 'write your time down' to prove your love for people... Many go in service, but are they really there to help people? or write time down so that they can 'make their hours' or show how loyal they are? If we look at the Bible, none of the people there had to write their time down to "encourage the congregation" or "the world wide work"... I like your "don't let your left hand know what the right hand is doing")

Hang in there, I hope that your wife one day awakens, know that you are doing what is right. cha ching!

    Hi

    Welcome dear friend.

We are in similar situations. I had a lot of such back room discussions with loyalty questions if the fds is god's channel (they are still dealing with my answer to that one).

We are both of similar age and both have a hardcore jw wife. The difference is that mine separated because she was so shocked and thinks I am bad company that I wouldn't let my son and myself bleed to death in a life and death situation.

I wish you good luck and all the best, especially in dealing with your family.

What is truly ironic is that these elders grilled you for 28 minutes and stressed repeatedly that, 1) we cannot think for ourselves, 2) we must listen to and obey whatever the Governing Body tells us to do.

Then the elder says he "doesn't care if JWs look at porn, it's natural, we were made to procreate". Really? That's NOT what the GB says !!!

This is the hypocrisy of JWs, especially elders. While claiming to be fully loyal to the GB, when it comes to issues they personally are not in agreement with, they have no problem defying the GB.

Personally, at the point, I would've told the elder, "obviously you disagree with the GB on the issue of porn, and I disagree with them on the issue of reporting field service time. So, I guess we're both doing our own thinking, aren't we?"

Welcome to the rest of you life. Stay with your new journey.

Welcome. Elders have no answers to real questions . No solutions.

Great that you recorded this. Really shines a light on their cult think .

I'm a 3rd gen JW being shunned by children and grandchildren for going inactive the last 2 yrs. Not even DFed. 20 close family in all .Its hell .

During a Watchtower Study our Coordinator of the Body of Elders commented that not turning in one's time is worse than looking at the worse kind of pornography.

It must be something that Circuit Overseers have been passing around to instill into elders the "gravity" of not obeying Momma Watchtower by not turning in monthly service time totals.

Just to give you a glimpse of the twisted logic of the elders, one of them said to me that not reporting time is worse than porn!!!

Just tell them after prayerful consideration of the matter with the desire to improve, you will both report time and watch porn.

    Hi there,

    Welcome!

Excellent video! A terrific record of the JW way of thinking!

That statement about the organization being a mother to all JWs is just depressing.

Good luck on your new way of thinking! Please let us know what happens from now on.

    Cheers!

    Now I listened to it.

You did a great job. You reasoned very well.

And you did a great video.

Now never give them a report anymore. Now they know why and they can do nothing about it.
