Were Any of You Part of the L.A. JW Party Scene in the Late 60s/Early 70s?

DNC...I remember the party scene VERY well, as you well know, and we had some great times! The San Gabriel Valley was happening (Covina Hills especially) and of course the Santa Monica/West LA area. Dancing, great music and the ocassional adult beverage. It was a great time, and though we weren't angels, we certainly weren't the evil Satan worshippers that today's WTS would make us out to be.

Now I am feeling nostalgic...especially as my joints get more and more arthritic and my tolerance for alcohol drops!! LOL

DNCall .... One of us Beach Babes has got to speak out about being called a SMALL FERN personality. lol

One of my most eye catching bikini's was navy blue held together with basically white shoe strings. Nobody was talking to my "head" to pick my brains on the affairs of the day. lol

In my bikini days, nobody cared if I had a brain. lol

    Just Lois

    isot4,

That's where I was in the late 1960's and early 1970's: Maywood, South Gate and Lynwood!

Brother "Stoussan" was my CO in Maywood and Brother Ed Dunphy was my CO in Lynwood. I still went to the Maywood congo when I moved and stayed briefly in South Gate. Downey and Huntington Park were also my stompling grounds and Dodger Stadium was where we always went for the District Assemblies.

Ah, the fun days when we knew for certain that we would never die!

Small world indeed Dagney! in 64' I was living in the Florence Community just south of HP. !n 65, it went crazy when the Watts riots broke out. Good thing you left. My Dad came home from work in hurry and rounded us all up and went to his home state in the s/w...The neighborhoods were on fire!

I remember them. My brother came to get me to spend a few weeks with his family and I was scared to death. They kept telling me it would be okay, but I remember I kept telling them "but it's in Los Angeles!"

I worked for quite a few years in Vernon in the 90's and early 2000's, and went back to the old neighborhood, elementary school. Very different.

Glad your dad got you out of there also Isot4.

Farkel, I pioneered in San Diego in the 70s. It's a big place, though, with lots of congregations, but it would be cool if you are someone I used to know. I worry about some of the folks I knew back then, wonder what happened to them and whether they made it out of the org. There were a small bunch of us of about the same age in our cong. and we pioneered together.
