    Announcements
As announced in Our Kingdom Ministry of April 1998, Watchtower Library-1997 Edition on CD-ROM is now being produced in nine languages. Please keep in mind that this is not a product for public distribution, to be put in school libraries, or given to ones who merely express interest in Jehovah’s Witnesses. Watchtower Library is a provision for members of the congregation and is made available only through the congregation.

When making literature requests, congregations should keep in mind that the Society’s CD-ROM is not to be distributed indiscriminately. It is primarily for the use of publishers.

With that in mind, many publishers estimate what these items might cost if commercially produced, and then they contribute accordingly. For example, a deluxe, gold-edged Bible can easily cost $20 or more, a reference book may be $40 and up, a full-color wall calendar may sell for at least $5, an encyclopedia on CD-ROM costs from $50 to $100 or higher, music compact discs commonly cost close to $20, and some videos are often sold for much more.

The Watchtower Library—1993 Edition will soon be shipped to congregations. Commercial CD-ROMs costing from $25 to $50 or more contain a single encyclopedia or a few reference works. Watchtower Library will access The Watchtower back to 1950 and many other of the Society’s publications back to 1970.

One little detail to check on the new CD, when somebody actually has one: how are they handling the Charles Greber references? Leave them out, and they provide a lot of ammo for apostates. Index them, and it still looks pretty bad. Or no change?

the material is the same as the bound volumes. books only have the latest version (often changed). the index is also -as far as I could judge- the same as the printed versions. even the word search is corrupt some words give surprisingly few hits...
