    jgnat,

You seemed to be concerend that not everyone understands the voice of their Lord and/or God the same way, yes?

Is there a reason why you think people of different life expereinces, people of different backgrounds, people with different understandings and goals in life, would hear the same message with the same details in the same way at the same time ?

So you don't hear exactly the same things, and not to the detail,

I am not hearing a different thing. I am either hearing the same, getting the sense of truth, or ... setting something aside and waiting to hear the truth on the matter.

but you share the same spirit and are in unity one with another.

    yes.

I also have an inner voice and I am not in agreement in detail or in broad strokes with others who have an inner voice.

    Okay.

Would you conclude, if I were not in agreement, that I am receiving direction from the Other Place?

I would not conclude anything of the sort. Especially not on a matter that is with regard to something like appearance. Something that does not affect the love and forgivness and mercy that Christ taught us to show others. You might simply be in a different place than i am at the moment, for whatever reason.

He who is not against you... is for you.

Now... if your inner voice was telling you that you should hate others, or judge/condemn others, or murder and persecute others, or some such thing... things that go against the teachings and deeds of Christ... then I would conclude that you are hearing a voice, other than His.

What if my inner voice leads me to love and to good?

Then peace be with you. Truly.

    Peace,

    tammy

    Truly.

    That sounds familiar.

psacramento, tec receives a very personal message of the character of Christ, and she judges the truth of a matter based on that internal voice, not validated by any outside force (including the bible). I have no protest with personal conviction. One protest I have is when that inner message is broadcast as a broader message to all of humanity. As far as I know, tec has only done this once. My only other protest is when this inner voice is presented as incontrovertible evidence. It is not.

You know Cofty, the 'accusations' of similarity, including writing style, has sometimes gotten me to question myself. Not that picking up someone else's writing style or speech mannerisms is a bad thing. Comes with association and happens to most people at some point. But I was reading my own book the other day, getting a feel for the characters because I am writing the sequel. And y ou know what... at least one of my characters says 'truly'. This was written before I ever even heard of jwn. Other things I have been accused of 'mimicking' also show up in my characters' speech. (no one says 'y'all' though; I did pick that up here, and from some of the americans who came into the restaurant i worked at.)

Anyway, it made me laugh. I can't believe I let some of you guys get to me. I am myself, and not a mimic of anyone else. Unless that one is Christ... I try to follow Him.

    Peace,

    THanks Jgnat, I understand now.

Well, we're back to that curtain. Tec, you stand in front of the curtain with your special knowledge, which you share with some people. Within a group of similarly minded people, you have an invisible, unverifiable affinity and validation. All are welcome to pull back the curtain and if what they find is similar to the mind of Christ as you have come to know it, you will accept it.

If they find something contrary to the mind of Christ, you will reject it.

How am I doing so far?

tec, are the following statements from the bible, consistent with the mind of Christ?

“and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property, for my sake and for the Good News, 30 will receive now in return a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property—along with persecution. And in the world to come that person will have eternal life. 31 But many who are the greatest now will be least important then, and those who seem least important now will be the greatest then"

    ...

34 “Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! I came not to bring peace, but a sword.

35 ‘I have come to set a man against his father,

    a daughter against her mother,

    and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.

36 Your enemies will be right in your own household!’ l

37 “If you love your father or mother more than you love me, you are not worthy of being mine; or if you love your son or daughter more than me, you are not worthy of being mine. 38 If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine. 39 If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it.

Sorry, I went out and got groceries with my little one (teachers convention here), and just got back. I'm just grabbing a bite to eat and I'll continue with our discussion.

    Peace,
