Narcolepsy and encephalitis are side effects of the swine flu (H1N1) even if one contracts the disease from another person.

There was a huge outbreak of narcolepsy following the 1918 swine flu pandemic, and researching it gave rise to the modern field of neurology.

In this extraordinary book, the author of The American Plague tells the story of a sleeping sickness epidemic that has been largely forgotten in the shadow of the Spanish Flu that accompanied it. Set in fascinating 1920s and 30s New York, it follows a group of physicians through hospitals and insane asylums as they try to solve a worldwide pandemic. With symptoms ranging from Parkinson’s to violent insanity, it would also become a catalyst for the advancement of an entire field of medical study: neurology.

To this day, doctors do not know what caused the pandemic of encephalitis lethargica—literally, “the encephalitis that makes you sleepy.” They do know, however, that cases still occur today, and an epidemic is likely to re-emerge in the wake of the next flu pandemic. Asleep takes the reader into the frightening history of this mysterious disease—and the fight to conquer it before it strikes again

Vaccine-acquired immunity is temporary, whereas the immunity you get by recovering from influenza is longer lasting. Look at Baby Boomers, for example. Evidence shows, if you are an aging baby boomer born prior to 1957, you are more protected and have a lower risk for pandemic H1N1 influenza that circulated in 2009 and other related influenza strains.
    Why?
Because you have long-lasting antibodies that help you resist influenza, antibodies that you acquired by recovering from similar strains of influenza in past decades. Unfortunately, if public health officials and drug companies marketing vaccines have their way, your children and grandchildren won't be allowed the opportunity to develop this important natural immunity to type A and type B influenza strains

"You may not be aware that only about 20 percent of flu-like illnesses are actually caused by influenza type A or B, according to CDC. The other 80 percent are caused by more than 200 other bugs that can make you feel just as sick - respiratory syncytial virus, bocavirus, coronavirus, and rhinovirus, to name a few"

CDC ~~Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Natural immunity lasts for decades... nature knows best !

"the proof is in the pudding" many of us older ones have went years and years without the flu even when exposed directly (example coffee black )

If your immune system is firing away just fine why would you even think of messing with it ??

Natural immunity is great - if you survive the infection of course lol

The logic of the flu shot is ....yes some may suffer or even die from taking the shot but it is for the net good of the many.

How about this logic ? Some may suffer greatly with the flu.. but is not worth it for the long term preservation value of natural

immunity for the many ? Or fairer yet make sure all those with weak immune systems take the shot . Helping the weak by destroying what is strong does not make sense to me.

What is the need of hunting down a mouse with a shotgun ?... needless over kill and damage to all surrounding property

The authorities have already said that the incidence of narcolepsy from the shot is not acceptable. Regarding mice and shotguns, let's put a little perspective on this.

I think something like a third of people have taken the flu shots (sorry have no source ) but if this was the case the hospitals according to this chart above

should be full of sick and dieing people

Are you suggesting, caliber, that people who get the flu shot are susceptible to the same rate of hospitalization as those who contract it naturally?

The incidence of narcolepsy from the shot is not acceptable in some populations.

Some countries show NO link between the vaccine and narcolepsy.

    No Association in South Korea

Choe YJ, Bae GR, Lee DH.

    Vaccine . 2012 Dec 14;30(52):7439-42. doi: 10.1016/j.vaccine.2012.10.030. Epub 2012 Oct 23.

"No increase in cases or incidence rate for narcolepsy during the A( H1N1 )pdm09 vaccination campaign was found in South Korea. Our data do not support the use of MF59-adjuvanted or non-adjuvanted A( H1N1 )pdm09 vaccine as a trigger for narcolepsy on a population level."

In those countries where there was a link, the numbers were very low. And as noted earlier, nacolepsy is a risk from H1N1 generally.

Annals of Neurology, December 7, 2012

Decreased Incidence of Childhood Narcolepsy 2 Years after the 2009 H1N1 Winter Flu Pandemic

"Studies in Sweden, Finland, and Norway have shown a 4- to 13-fold increased risk of developing childhood narcolepsy following Pandemrix (only 1 of 16,000 vaccinated children developed narcolepsy, however) These results bolster the claim that narcolepsy, an autoimmune disease caused by hypocretin cell loss, could be triggered by H1N1 vaccination or infection."

Justita Themis, the problem seems to be with a very particular adjuvant vaccine that was used in Europe. No such correlation was found in the US. The culprit seems to be this particular brand of vaccine, not all vaccines.
