Do Witnesses Ever Talk About Their Living Forever And Never Dying?

I noticed when anybody would talk about Paradise in conversations in service or in other gatherings after they would say something nice about Paradise they would stare off into the distance. Now that I think about it it was like a thousand-yard stare. I don't think most really believe it is going to happen anytime soon.

Most of the JWs on other forums that I've seen talk quite a bit about making it into the New System, any day now. Of course, that always tends to be accompanied by the "and YOU are going to die a horrible death at Jehovah's hand." Almost seems as if the wish for the death of "apostates" overrides their hope to make it into paradise.

How many realize that, as per long-standing JW dogma, if you don't personally make it through the Great Tribulation, and survive that terrible persecution, you were never part of the Great Crowd in the first place. You would have spent your entire life mistaken, thinking you belonged to the Great Crowd class, when you weren't in it at all. When you die, you'll be no different than anyone else in the world who'll get their sins wiped clean in the resurrection.

"It was the first i realized that the best thing for me to do was not to try to open her eyes, but instead let her live the rest of her days in her paradise bliss dream. It would probably be too traumatic for her to realize that she wasted the majority of her life constantly giving up her time and resources to preach a message that is false."

I never was a dub, nor do I have family/friends who are. But I DO have family and friends who have fairly fundamentalist christian beliefs, including a sister and brother-in-law who have comfort in believing that their son (my nephew) who died at 13 is 'in a better place'.

I never discuss my atheist views and opinions with them (they know where I stand) nor would I ever do so with anyone who has a religious faith unless they initiate the discussion or they attempt to foist their beliefs on me. I would not want to challenge the faith of those who need or take comfort from it.

And, of course, it is usually a waste of time to discuss religion with the religious.

On the post-Armageddon note, there have been some good articles written (sorry, don't have links) about what life could be like in a JW 'Paradise On Earth'. 'Chilling' is probably the best word to describe it.

I fully expected Armageddon to be already. I really had no reason to doubt that. Of course I never questioned it either.
If I could go back and tell my younger self just ONE thing, that would be it. You ARE going to be old in this system, so get an education. haha

It's kinda of a big deal for them .. cuz if they get resurected.... they wouldn't have had to go out in service... and could have had some fun..

Didn't anyone else see this flaw in the Living Forever Gamble of your life

I don't know about the younger ones but the older ones of my acquaintance have certainly stopped talking about it. In fact the hardly mention their faith in conversation - maybe talk abot people and congregations but their beliefs? Never!

I heard this in a Public Talk. The speaker told the congregation that " I used to believe that I was going to march straight into the New World, but now it seems that I will be getting there via The Underground !!"

So no, they do not expect it in their lifetime anymore. Apart from the hope being Earthly rather that Heavenly, what is the differnce between the dub view and the Church hope of a ressurrection after death?

The Watchtower never promises anyone that they can live forever on Earth in paradise.

You need to read carefully what they say.

You have a PROSPECT of living forever on Earth in paradise. Just like when you go to a casino, you have a PROSPECT of winning the jackpot.
