There is also the very real possibility that this entire experience is untrue, that there is no college graduate who would think the way this Watchtower article portrays.

Quendi, I agree. The easiest ploy in writing propaganda is to fabricate warning examples. Quote something that comes from the 'horse's mouth' - the Watchtower frequently uses this lazy ploy.

Anyone who had actually acquired a higher education (nice loaded term there) would not talk the way she is quoted as talking.

It is composed by someone who is obviously looking "in" on higher education from the outside and giving their own uninformed impressions.

It would be akin to an "outsider" attending the Theocratic Ministry School and getting lost amid the JW-isms. E.g., publishers? theocratic warfare? magazine offer? auxiliary pioneering? hours for the month?

Each and every group has its own language - and, in general, that's for the sake of communication within the group. Equally, each and every group could usefully look at its use of language and try to make it more comprehensiuble to outsiders.

Do you have the reference for that? I'd love to see it.

I'm surprised that they would actually admit such a thing.

Sorry 00DAD, I can't remember which thread, but it was here on JWN within the last month or so (?). I tried searching for it (using "fake letter questions from readers"), but had no luck relocating it.

I remember the context was an admission that the letters were based on issues that MAY be relevant for readers, offering "food at the proper time."

Oh, I remember the question was some incredibly odd-ball obscure theological issue, maybe pertaining to 144k, such that posters questioned who'd even ask! Maybe I misread it, but I swear someone presented evidence where the WTBTS even mentioned that fact in a publication.

Maybe Blondie or someone else who's good at tracking stuff down will remember, and be able to locate?

Like everything else about the WTS, their marketing dept/methods make complete idiots of themselves. Spinning such lame excuses by trying to appease what's left of a gullible RnR is the bottom line as we already know. As for the new cost cutting methods and simplified spinning propaganda, it's business as usual at WT Corp.

When the time comes for this study to be done in the Kingdom Hall, I got the idea of reading the full quote as a comment and explaining the true meaning. But at the same time I might be escorted out of the kingdom hall for trying to change what the GB is intending to convey.

    It's class warfare.

The uneducated JW either hate or are jealous of the educated. Having an "educated" person diss education . . . alot of JDubs will eat it up. It's like putting on a polyester suit from Sears. Feels better then a grungy T-shirt. Now, the uneducated can strut around making fun of the educated per the WTS words.

"A college graduate in the United States says: "I spent 18 years speaking and writing in the abstract language of higher education. I developed a habit of speaking and thinking in a way that was more complicated than necessary. I realized I needed to make big changes in my way of thinking and speaking." Now an effective evangelizer, she writes: "The simplified Watchtower has proved to be a great help. Its language gives me an excellent example of how to put things simply." Study Watchtower from OP

What an utter load of horse-hooey twaddle...
