It may be Cthulu's influence on me...

TBH, it looks more like Medusa's locks.

cofty - Thank you. When someone throws the word "proof" into the mix, it is distracting. It means 100% certainty like when a set of mathematical operations work out perfectly. I think it is more realistic to speak in terms of level of belief - ranging from thinking something is highly unlikely to very likely. When a believer in a god says he/she cannot prove its existence, I reply that I am not asking for 100% proof, so please get rid of that distraction. I am asking for evidence that indicates the claim is likely to be true.

Testimonial evidence tends to need to be backed with other forms of evidence. Same with circumstantial evidence. Or anecdotal/hypothetical evidence. Or personal evidence.

If this is the case, where is further evidence of god, beyond testimony?

Indeed. When we find a broken window, we don't say that it must be the neighbor kid, because we don't know who else it is. If we don't know how the window was broken, we start an investigation and look for more evidence. And if we can't answer it right away, the kid still doesn't get the blame by default. We simply don't know, and keep searching.
