Archaeology proved that the Nation of Israel was taken captive by Babylon, but that captivity proved to be 50 years rather than 70. This flung formulas that relied on a 70 year captivity into chaos. The Bible is not the factual and inerrant history book it has been taught as by so many groups. When the fact was unearthed, religions that rely Bible Chronology were faced with a sink or swim situation. The Watchtower is in the midst of sinking.

I like this. The 70 weeks of years just.... Isn't there. WHY start at the destruction of Jerusalem at all? Daniel 4 has the fulfillment right there. There is no reason to take it beyond that.
The WT says that the prophecy of no one being seated upon the throne (after zedekiah) until he that is worthy is seated upon it refers to there being no one in charge of Gods people until Jesus takes power in heaven.
Unfortunately for the WT the bible says that Jesus sat down at the right hand of God as soon as he was brought back up to heaven, and is still sitting there now.. "until the last enemy, death is put as a stool for his feet". Is there still death? Then nothing has changed in heaven. Done.
But it is ironic that they insist on discrediting archaeologists who disagree with the 607 date, but when they agree with 537, it becomes an "absolute date".

Right at this moment I am standing in the main university library on my campus with hundreds of books in front of me about the neo- Babylonian empire. NOT ONE OF THESE BOOKS SUPPORTS 607 BCE. In fact there isn't even the least amount of controversy regarding this date. It SIMPLY DOES NOT EXIST IN THE REAL WORLD.
If anyone believes that 607 is the correct date, please take them to a large university, and let them show you where the evidence is.
This is a response that was given to a man who sent in to the Society a massive amount of 587/607 research. What I find particularly odd is that even when you start from 539 BCE and add 70 years you get 609 BCE which begs the question what happened to the two years? So, to further Captian Obvious' point, not only do they interpret the prophecy to have a secondary fulfilment, but they also need an extra formula to shave off two years giving the end preached result of 607 BCE to 1914 AD. Literally nothing seems to add up other than that they know they have it wrong and they don't really know what to do about it. This is mainly because Bethel is ridden with social and hierarchical corruption. Jesus said you have to build on a rock mass to bare the weather. The weather is the winds of truth, which often suddenly change direction.
If the Watchtower were actually unified, rather than just organized and uniform, they would be able to solve such a problem, but they just say that the world is wrong (golfclap). The Book of James says that it's a sin to preach something you know to be false. He wasn't preaching to be in denial of your environment. His words heavily imply that truth has a linear progression. Witnesses will say that fundamentals like Rejecting the Trinity should never change. They are simply wrong. Fundamentals do change. That's exactly what's been happening all along and many have lived in denial of it and went against James' words. Scientists have discovered that we evolved from lesser forms. What were our problems when we were schools of fish in the sea? They were not the same as they were now so we can't use fish arguments to support modern day resolutions for human problems.
The Book of James puts it perfectly. It says when you look in the mirror take a good look at who you are. Because when you leave it you are going to be susceptible to forgetting who you are, and what you are here to do. If that happens then your life stands still and waits for you to remember where it was that you were going.

I believe it was devised date manipulated along with 2520 years to hold up the previous dating system of the IBSA by C. Russell
which he previously used Pyramidology to arrive at 1914.
J. Rutherford still had WW1 occurring in 1914 so that was still useful to him, he only had to make up another calculation to arrive at 1914.
This is really where 607 came into being, a little intellectual dishonesty was developed, one could say to create commercial appeal for the
literature, something created knowing the average general public wouldn't be able to discern of it being dishonest.

Russell eventually arrived at the 1914 date by measuring passageways in the Great Pyramid, this is how he arrived at 1914.
He then used the Bible to back up his pyramid date by using differant parts of it to arrive at the 1914 date, even if he hadnt had to manipulate historical events slightly to make it all fit, I find it highly dubious that Jehovah would have used something as unclean as a Satanic, false god worshipping pyramid as one of his "two Witnesses".
Now if God wasnt envolved in the Pyramid after all, as I seem to recall Rutherford denouncing the earlier teaching of the pyramid, but still keeping its 1914 prophetic measurements, rightly saying it was Satanic after all, then how did those measurements point to 1914 without Jehovahs advice?, for if Jesus didnt know the date or the hour, (Jesus wasnt as clever as Russell you see, even though Jesus knew the Bible and the date of Jerusalems fall, he obviously wasnt as Spiritual as Russell else Jesus would have known when his second coming was!), then Satan wouldnt have lnown it either.
The conclusion being, even if 607 was the correct date, the JW using such to point to the 2nd coming would still bewrong.
My view is that the JWs havnt been anouncing Christs Kingdom ruling from 1914, they have inadvertantly been announcing the Kingdom that was given birth too by 1914 events, namely, Satans Kingdom using the vehicle of the United Nations that was previously the League of Nations, aka the Scarlet coloured wild beast! not Jesus at all!
And those who are aware of the coming New World Order will also know its symbal is...............The Pyramid!!!!!
Another interesting note is that Nebuchadnezzar became king after his father died in 605 BCE.,
which by using the bible's own chronology correlates to actually when the captivity of the Jews to Babylon started.
The final blow ending up in 586 BCE when the temple of Jerusalem was destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar's army.
By the way 605 BCE. - 539 BCE. = 66 years the said 70 years of captivity by prophecy was off by 4 years
