Matt 19:6 - WTB$ preaches the sanctity of marriage but see what happens when one partner leaves the bOrg!

Mrs Punk was not a happy bunny when I announced I was leaving the WTB$ as it was all a big farce.

She has been quite rude to me, she walked out one weekend and came back 2 days later from staying with a relative. She told me about all the negative reasons I left (attributing the 'evil' to me and none to the holy 7 headed beast the GB). She has told the teenage kids they are not to listen to me.

She refuses to talk Bible and gives me the 'talk to the hand sign' on the basis she refuses to listen to my 'spiritual pornography' (now there's an appealing thought!!). My guess is she knows I can wake her up but she prefers dubby dreamland.

She says that when we met I was a JW which is what she wanted, now I'm not! What does that tell me? Well, a few things really but here's one.....

That the scripture in MATT 19:6

''So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."

Although the WTB$ pay lip service to the sanctity of marriage and will boldly declare they do not break up families, the 'mind cleansing' the JWs are under causes the opposite.

We see faked 'experiences' at boasting sessions, in the literal-trash and DubVD's that show originally abusive husbands who smoked, gambled, watched the Smurfs submitting to 'mind cleansing' and becoming the best people in this quadrant of the known universe.

There is plenty of subversive pressure and nagging advertizing wives of unbelieving mates can do to hound their husbands to have their 'minds cleansed' to WTB$ specification.

However, when it comes to a 'mind cleansed' husband that wakes up from the 'brainwashing' 'mind cleansing' all hell breaks loose.

I told her this is how the WTB$ DOES break up families. I told her she attributes all the bad to me but her actions are WTB$ inspired.

Or is it just my situation? Is it just Mrs Punk or is it the 'just imperfect men' of the WTB$'s 'mind cleansing' that's done it? You know. 'Hate what is bad'

"Jesus encouraged his followers to love their enemies, but God's Word also says to "hate what is bad." When a person persists in a way of badness after knowing what is right, when the bad becomes so ingrained that it is an inseparable part of his make-up, then in order to hate what is bad a Christian must hate the person with whom the badness is inseparably linked." The WTB&TS injects itself into the one-flesh bond unashamedly. Even the scriptures acknowledge that the marriage arrangement supercedes baptism by one mate with an unbelieving spouse. In these areas I think it's a shame their fictitious God doesn't exist. They obviously don't "fear" him as much as they would have us believe. Holding on to their free labour is far more important than respecting the marriage arrangement. A "beast" is what they truly are. Live with hope Unky.

Unfortunately your situation is not an isolated one. I believe that in some of their articles they tell you that you can leave your mate for "spiritual endangerment" aka: apostasy. Your wife apparently has no interest in actually 'testing to see if she is really in the truth' and I'm guessing that, like most female Witlesses, she likes the social aspect of it and has no intention of leaving. Having an "apostate" for a hubby is not only considered "shameful", it's a piss off because she's now in the same boat as "single sisters" and as we all know, single sisters have absolutely no social standing in the congregation unless they're a pio-sneer. Your wife will most likely not be asked out as much as other couples and there's zero chance that her hubby will ever climb the spiritual ladder by becoming an elder, or CO, etc. And in Dub-dumb land, that is the unforgiveable sin.

    Frigging cult.

sizemik - That's EXACTLY it....the WTB$ does indeed inject itself into marriages. Like most injections it hurts. They make you feel a prick!!

Mary - How's our boy? You're right. She now forces herself to answer at the meetings now when she didn't when I was in. She hangs about with all the ones that are ignored by the elders as being too old or not high profile. Considering I used to be an elder it must have been a shock to her. Sadly not a wake up call! I wonder how much longer we'll have together before something gives under the pressure! There is no other way to put this but she is less than not very academic and doesn't know how or care to know how to question things. If the WTB$ said drink the poison she would!

They sure can get cranky, Punky.

I don't talk to mine about anything she doesn't already know, or isn't in a recent rag. Even then, I only ask a question, or drop a one line joke about some lunatic doctrine/rule/JW myth she really won't want to discuss or defend.

You have to keep your nose squeaky clean and not accept the blame for her bad behaviour.

As I suspected. Most Witness women are not educated beyond high school. They get married young, have kids young and would not have a clue how to support themselves if they were ever left on their own. And since higher education is so strongly discouraged, you're right: they have no thinking capacity beyond what they here at the boring-assed meetings and ASSemblies.

Anyhoo, off to work I go....

black sheep - Mrs Punk annoyed me the other day about me being too lazy to go on failed circus so that's why I left. Where she got that idea from I do not know. She was irregular and I was out every Saturday/Sunday and conducted a study on a Wednesday evening. So I just quipped: 'Oh, well never mind. You won't have to worry about it soon as god's going to lovingly murder me. Weeelllllllll......depends how the 'overlapping' goes!'

Mrs Punk: 'What are you talking about? Overlapping? what overlapping?'

    Says it all!

Sorry to hear about your wife giving you crap for using your brain

I am lucky in that my wife is not so deeply in, but the questioning and thinking have been trained out of her.

but I have seen families split due to the GB's loving direction and work!

My wife pointed out something that made me think about how tricky the words of the WBTS are:

The more I argue it is cult and try to force her to move away the more she is drawn to them and their BS meetings!

Best thing to do is to be happy! It will confuse her no end!

    Keep your chin up!

JW divorces are above the national averages. Two Pioneers getting hitched does not a happy marriage make.
