    OOoh, here's a thought....

    Don't sign the form!!

Stop lying to yourself and all those around you. Who knows, once you start standing up for what you really believe in and think, you might discover you're not as alone as you thought.

I remember that April was pioneer month back in the mid eighties. Wonder when it started and what the purpose of it is?

After over 40 years of overdosing on religious masochism (we would have piosneered in April if we were still in), paganism is a grreat alternative.

Can't wait for halloween this year!!!!!!

Hey, if you can manage it in April, why not every month?

    Exactly what I thought.

This idea sounds better to the uneducated brains at Bethel:

Instead of encouraging more time this April, let's drop the hourly requirement for auxiliary, piss off the ones who work hard at getting their hours in, make it a test of loyalty, and thereby demonstrate that we LOVE titles.

Get it? You aren't a publisher who worked VERY hard to get in 30 hours; you are a WATERED DOWN auxiliary pioneer!

IF I was still going I would NOT do this. Whenever I was encouraged to pioneer when work was slow, I had the same reaction: been there, done that.

Didn't like it, and knew it was a complete waste of gas and time.

Really, how many hours for one study gained in the door to door? Not knowable even; if you divide the newly baptized into hours, it is thousands of hours, but that does not account for the fact that the majority of baptisms are for those born in.

The field service is a front end for the publishing model of revenue generation; just look how well that is going for the rest of the print industry!!

    Pioneer, UGH.

    1) April often memorial date

    2) April used to be the month to push magazine subscriptions

    3) I can remember when the CO would go from congregation to congregation comparing them to each other as to how many elders/MS had signed up making a competition of it

    4) This year April has 5 full weekends; theoretically easier to get 60...er 50...er 30 hours in

    5) We knew of elders that signed up to pioneer the month the CO came...seen only when the CO met and never seen again out with a group the rest of the month--always got time in but never trained new jws or encouraged any other jw by "working" with them. The phantom pioneer elder....

ENCOURAGING ELDERS/MS TO PIONEER OVER THE YEARS

*** km 12/72 p. 4 Can You Share More Fully in Kingdom-preaching? ***The effect of a good example set by elders and ministerial servants is well illustrated by what happened in recent years in one congregation in Portugal. The brothers serving on the committee were concerned that few took up the pioneer ministry. Even during months of special activity rarely did any brothers or sisters apply for temporary pioneer service. The committee talked the matter over and decided that the best results would probably be obtained by their setting an example as temporary pioneers themselves during the month of April. This they did, even though not one of them had a vacation period. They worked out a schedule for evenings and weekends that allowed them to meet the hour requirement, even though the ban on the work in Portugal makes this harder to achieve. Last year they were delighted when several publishers imitated their example and served as temporary pioneers. This year all those serving in the congregation in an appointed capacity took up temporary pioneer service during April. This really stirred the congregation to activity. About one fourth of the publishers were moved to participate in the temporary pioneer work.

*** km 3/82 p. 3 par. 7 Will You Be an Auxiliary Pioneer in April? ***In a number of congregations entire bodies of elders take the lead as auxiliary pioneers at certain times. In California where one body of elders did this, their wives joined them. So did most of the ministerial servants and their wives. When this was announced to the congregation, 26 other publishers also enrolled as auxiliary pioneers for the same month. Can you imagine the joy these 53 brothers and sisters had in the field service and the good results in the territory from this special effort? Their example heightened the congregation’s spirituality, and good effects were felt for many months thereafter.

*** km 4/86 p. 3 par. 6 “Work What Is Good Toward All” ***When elders and ministerial servants can arrange their affairs to auxiliary pioneer from time to time or even get into the regular pioneer work, benefits extend to the entire congregation. (2 Cor. 9:2) If you are an elder or a ministerial servant, would reasonable adjustments in your life-style enable you to auxiliary pioneer from time to time or perhaps get into the regular pioneer work? If so, you will experience many blessings and will be in a better position to “work what is good toward all.” As we individually look for ways to help and encourage others, Jehovah will add his blessing.

*** km 2/88 p. 1 par. 5 Caring for Kingdom Seed ***In a number of congregations, the entire body of elders, the ministerial servants, and their wives have set a fine example by auxiliary pioneering. Last April one congregation had 83 auxiliary and 12 regular pioneers. What a source of encouragement for all the congregation! May Jehovah bless your careful planning!

*** km 2/92 p. 1 par. 4 Are You Able to Auxiliary Pioneer? ***In one congregation all the elders and ministerial servants served as auxiliary pioneers during one month. Most of them had secular jobs, but they were intensely occupied with spiritual activities on weekends. The fine lead they provided in preaching and in organizing the field service benefited the entire congregation. Of the 77 publishers, 73 shared in some form of pioneer service during the month.

*** km 4/96 pp. 3-4 par. 9 Be “Zealous for Fine Works” During April! ***! In some congregations most of the elders and ministerial servants and their wives have enrolled as auxiliary pioneers. Stimulated by their zealous example, others have followed suit, so that a large percentage of the congregation serve as auxiliary pioneers in April.

*** km 3/98 p. 3 par. 2 Will We Do It Again?—Another Call for Auxiliary Pioneers ***Publishers in varied circumstances of life made room for auxiliary pioneering. In one congregation, 51 publishers pioneered together the same month, including most of the elders, a mother with a 15-month-old daughter, a sister who quit her job and found part-time work to enable her to pioneer, and an older sister who had never before pioneered. The circuit overseer wrote: “A tremendous effort in the preaching work is under way. . . . Not only is this having an impact on the territory but the congregations are bubbling with enthusiasm. Brothers are enjoying getting to know one another better as well as seeing fine results in the ministry.”

*** km 2/01 p. 3 par. 4 Make Known Jehovah’s Name and Dealings ***The elders should start now to build enthusiasm and support for increased service activity. Last year in one congregation where all the elders and ministerial servants enrolled as auxiliary pioneers, 64 of the 121 publishers pioneered in April! The congregation also delighted in seeing six unbaptized publishers begin reporting in March and April. Indeed, there is no better time for children and new ones to ask the elders if they qualify to begin sharing in the public witnessing activity.

*** km 3/01 p. 6 par. 27 April—Time to ‘Work Hard and Exert Ourselves’ ***Last April in a congregation in North Carolina, the elders really encouraged increased activity in the ministry. At the meetings each week, they invited the publishers to consider prayerfully whether they could enroll as auxiliary pioneers. At every opportunity, all in the servant body talked enthusiastically about making April the best month ever. As a result, 58 percent of the publishers, including all the elders and ministerial servants, pioneered that month!

*** km 2/02 p. 4 par. 11 “Preach the Word of God Fully” ***Many will see that with some slight adjustments in their schedule, they can enjoy the privilege of serving as auxiliary pioneers. In a number of congregations, most, if not all, of the elders and ministerial servants and their wives set a fine example by auxiliary pioneering together during the Memorial season. This has encouraged scores of publishers to join them.

*** km 2/03 p. 4 par. 11 Preach and Give a Thorough Witness ***By participating in the auxiliary pioneer service, elders and ministerial servants are in a good position to encourage others. When working with publishers in the field ministry and when making shepherding calls, they have fine opportunities personally to help others to have a full share in this special activity. May all of us make this a matter of prayer, thus adding force to our united efforts in giving a thorough witness.

*** km 3/03 p. 4 par. 10 Be Zealous for What Is Good! ***One congregation of 107 publishers and 9 regular pioneers reported that they had a “phenomenal month” last April, with 53 serving as auxiliary pioneers, including all the elders and ministerial servants. How did the elders build enthusiasm for auxiliary pioneering that month? They started early, encouraging as many as possible to enroll.

Thank you for refreshing the memories of the past. What is a suggestion for publishers always becomes an absolute must for appointed brothers. Of course a rank & file will never know that all elders & MS are forced or at least put under high pressure to do this aux pion thing, and do or leave all the other things which are merely 'suggestions' and 'things you are encouraged to do' for publishers. If they only could have a good look in the internal kitchen of their own congregation, realizing all the things which are done under compulsion and not out of a willing spirit, way less energy & time would be lost on absolute futile activities. Same with marking talks. If somebody gets marked, publishers can decide for their own how much social contact they will have with the marked person. Not so for appointed bros. They'll lose their position if they don't cut the ties, no matter how close friends or family you are. Could go on like that a few more pages. Happy I am not an appointed bro any more. MLE, wish you all the best, and I hope you can continue to cope with the pressure.
